Yeah, I know it's wierd.
People don't like AIM for one reason. AOL. And AOL was for skippies who couldn't figure out how to configure TCP/IP settings and make a connection manually. So the stigma sticks. But hey, even I have an AOL account since some a few of my peeps have it and the GNU projects now use the connections to either service. Another reason people hate it is because AOL and Time Warner gobbled up the infamous ICQ. Which was a great playground once upon a time.
