Of course there isn't, i've used AP's once or twice in Cosmos too, we're not forcing anybody to not use them, we're simply politely asking "Please, do not use them", wether anybody listens or not is their choice.

Because of the ' nature ' of the Cosmos forum...it can easily become inflamatory...the primary reason in my opinion Negative has suggested on occasion AP's not be brought into that forum is because of that and the possibility of it erupting into an AP frenzy...more so than any other forum...and that people should not be APed for simply having an opposing view...
I'm sure Neg will correct me if I'm wrong....;)
I've APed people in Cosmos before...but by accident...normally, if a particular post makes me laugh or think I'll AP that person in another post outside of Cosmos...that way maintaining the internal integrity of Cosmos and still managing to use the AP system as intended.
That, in my opinion, is the logical response...the intent is to keep Cosmos a peaceful place to share personal opinions.
Some people are ' sensitive ' to others opinions...especially those kinds of opinions that are brought up in Cosmos...in the heat of the moment...
if a particular post in Cosmos strikes you the right way I see nothing wrong with APing that person outside of Cosmos...if a post in Cosmos strikes you the wrong way then either post your objection or be a man and let it go...
common sense and rational behaviour should dictate whether you should or you shouldn't...if you lack common sense or rational behaviour then you probably shouldn't have any AP's at all.
All in all...the AP system works well with this membership, and has it's own checks and balances...and, for the most part, common sense does prevail...more so than in other forums I attend...it still can and does get abused...but that is to be expected.
If you want an AP system that works well then don't positive AP people who are prone to abuse it.
It's all here:- Sticky by Negative, Cosmos and AntipointsQuote:

I would just like to point out that it is a sort of unwritten rule not to give antipoints in "Cosmos"
OK, if we get a Troll invasion, that is a different matter, but in general terms I believe that I am correct.
If you approve/disapprove of what has been posted, might I recommend using the private message system (PM)

Hi jm459,
I remember reading that and...I think Neg brought it up again in the time I've been here.
Eg ;)
( on another note )
Laws...rules...regulations...exist primarily to protect people from stupidity...we envoke a law why? To enforce the common sense onto those lacking common sense. If you use common sense...then most laws don't really apply to you because they are not directed with you in mind.
The rule in Cosmos is just like any other rule or law...it is directed at those who would not otherwise apply common sense...if we all applied common sense in every aspect of life there would be no need of laws...rules...or regulations.
eg. common sense dictates that if you want to live in a harmonious society you don't steal...if you want to live in a safe neighborhood you don't commit violence against your neighbor...if you don't want to get hit by a car cross the street when there are no cars nearby...don't pet a bear in the wild, don't tell your girlfriend she has a fat a@@, don't sit on an anthill...etc...common sense is a self-law in need of no other law.
I still think a good post deserves recognition and a bad one just the opposite and i think as long as you go discretely about it the balance will work itself out..We do have moderators who i think will in turn use their own discretion when a post is either negged or positived to hell and back to intervein and do what is reqiured..You might get someone who can freely express him or herself within cosmos and if it is good it deserves recognition i think..:D
Just my 2cents
Galdron: Were you in Jail?
not in jail, but in village area for handling agriculture business i do, and there is no regular telephone and light there, let alone PC and internet. remote area you can say...
Bleh, it's pretty simple if you ask me -- there's no need for Antipoints in Cosmos. It doesn't belong there, it's not security related, and yes.. opinions on philosophy/religion/etc should not be awarded/punished with AntiPoints.
Negative's sticky pretty much explains it and lays it out IMO.
Nebraska? You poor bastard. :D Oh wait... St. Johns, Newfoundland?Quote:

I find it kinda weird that the only ones who CAN do 'damage' with AP's have been here a while, have all whined about newbie's not reading the FAQ's, and STILL they award points in Cosmos ...............
As one who has transgressed himself
I can only say sorry, must try harder.
But, on the whole it does self regulate, and a thread that goes suicidal can be brought back by the mods, as can a thread where AP's are flying around with gay abandon, be shut by them too.
Leave well enough alone, just the occaisional reminder thread like this to keep us on our toes should do it...............
