It won't be too long here before some bunker busters are dropped from Israeli hornets ..........I mean a barrage of US cruise missiles, secret launches by SOCOM. Who can tell the difference? For all they know Israel sent some planes over as promised.

The biggest threat in the world right now are two of our friends: Pakistan and India...they are very suspicious of each other...both are nuclear powers...both very capable of screwing up...if one of them screws up we could be looking at the biggest disaster to ever hit mankind.

Even though Both India and Pakistan had Chemical and Biological wepons for a long tie and have fought 3 ( or 4 Wars ) but they have never used them ........ :)

It dosen't mean that because they have not done it in the past ....... they would not do that in the future but it gives you a hint on who to fear more .

the reason why these countries pose the greatest threat in my opinion is the antagonistic nature between them...the possibility of an ' accident ' ( anybody remember the Bhopal disaster )...

And here is My insight to the reasoning behind my statement... :)


All the Possible Insidents of Chemical and Biological Weapons Use stated by you are Speculations and Rumurs Spread during the war there are no Official Claims that either side ever used Chemical or Biological Weapons.

Though the world Took notice of India and pakistan as Nuclear powers after 1999 tests but they were Nuclear states Long Before that .......India first tested a nuclear bomb in 1974..... and Pakistan had first built a workable nuclear device in 1982 and by the end of the 1980s it was widely accepted by the international community that Islamabad had become a de facto nuclear power......

Thing to Notice here is the Full Scale war between them was in 1971...... before both Countries became Nuclear Powers......While it is impossible to prove that the risk of a nuclear conflict has been the overriding factor preventing another all-out conflict....... there is good reason to believe that it has been a significant constraint on policy makers in both countries.

nuclear deterrence had kept the peace between the United States and the Soviet Union during the Cold War and that it could do the same in South Asia. In the Words of a Defence Anylist

"India and Pakistan have already fought their last war'" he said, "and there is too much to lose in contemplating another one."


My interpretation is Nuclear Weapons have made south Asia Safer than before when the threat of war loomed large ...... Before the Nuclear test the World didn't even took notice of the Dangerous Conflict taking place in the South Asia

Since the 1998 tests the two countries have come close to war on two occasions.

1. In the 1999 Kargil crisis, Pakistan infiltrated over 1,000 troops into Indian-held Kashmir......India responded with land and air attacks forcing the Pakistanis to retreat.

2. And in 2002 India deployed hundreds of thousands of troops in forward positions on its border with Pakistan following the attack on the Indian parliament the previous December.

If you look at History of both Countries ...... In the past India had responded in Such Situation with a All-out attack on Pakistan ...... Pakistan obsession with kashmir has led it to Attempt a Mis-Adventure into India 3 times ...... In the past 2 Attempts when Pakistan infiltrated into kashmir in 1947 and 1965 India responded with All-out Attack onto Pakistan...... But in 1999 when pakistan Army Infilitrated into Indian terrotary .....India Didn't Launch a war on Pakistan just Consentrated the attack to that particulat Spot and with Contunous Bombing made them retre.

Another thing i would Like to highlight is the Parity Between the two Countries is Growing and will Continu to Grow rapidly as time passes by .......... so the longer we wait there are less chances of war......... India is growing rapidly and is one of the Fastest growing Economy int he world ...... so they have money to buy latest weapons ... while Pakistan is still not Blessed with this virtue....... the parity between already is huge ....... Indian Economy is the 10 th largest in the world and is around 800 Billion and speands around 20 Billion dollars on Defence ....Pakistan is 1 Billion Economy and speands over 3.5 Billion on defence..... So no Doubt Pakistan can't keep up the Bullet for Bullet Purchace which has been going on till date...... for every wepon Purchased by India pakistan buys Wepons to Match it...... But now knowing that there is a detterent they could go slow in that department and Buy less Convetionl Weapons

According to US Department of Defence prediction by 2035 India is poised Overtake all Europian Economies........ At that Point the Conventional Weapons parity between the two countries will be huge..... and i don't think even with Nuclear wepons Pakistan will try any Misadventure.

I am Concertating on Pakistan as i think the threat comes form them ..... India like a responsible Nuclear Power has a Clean NUclear technology Prolification record acknoweledged by President George Bush Durign the recent Indian Prime Minister's visit as a responsible Nuclear State...... and the Biggest thing India seem to be the only Stable Democracy in South Asia......India also has a self Imposed policy of .... not to use Nuclear wepons Against a non- Nuclear Enemy in any case and also No-First Use Poslicy...... while Pakistan Dosen't have Any such Policy and their Nuclear Prolification record needs no mention ;) .

Now...now...that doesn't look anything like RoadClosed :D

The main point to to my posts was not that they would ' intentionally ' start a nuclear war...but the various ' accidents ' that could happen to cause a major disaster or conflict...

either internal discord, political instability, natural disaster, or a very real possibility of a military coop by some extremist faction...

I agree that under the present conditions a nuclear war is unlikely...but those conditions can change very rapidly...they still are, for the most part, unstable nations in the possession of the world's most dangerous weapons.
