Microsoft Anti Spyware Beta

I use the MS Antispyware cause it is free for corporate where the other solutions run about 30.00 usd per desktop....

We are currently on a tight budget...I have no choice :confused:

I like the program...but as Zencoder has mentioned ....I am not wholly confident with the product since MS changed thier policies recently

If you dont like MS.....dont use it, support it, or whine about it...we are all tired of hearing this crap

...and leave all that business to me :D

The only problem I have had with the program is having to disable to install some apps...

On a budget? There is hundred of free or open source software programs from places like Snapfiles or SourceForge that should be able to get rid of spyware better than a beta version of any software.
As it was said before, Spybot S&D works well, but you choose yourself what software works best with the hardware that you use.

AFAIK...

Most freeware programs cannot be used in a corporate enviroment due to the EULA...

We have no issues with the MS antispyware...even with the beta version.

Microsoft Anti Spyware Beta is excellent software IMO. It detected stuff that both Spybot and Adaware missed. I just went to http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en

to re download the application, man what a pain in the ass! First I had to download the "verify geniune windows" application first, next I had to go back to and attempt to download it, but this time I got a different page one that states:

That is not a logical statement. "Beta" is merely the release status of the software, not an indication of its quality or effectiveness. Hey, how many people are touting Firefox, whilst in "Beta"?..............I have not heard anyone argue that IE6 is superior because it is "in producution"

I will challenge you here: name me a dozen that run under Windows, are regularly updated, are truly free, and actually work.

I will gladly D/L them and put them through their paces...........what I am saying is; there is a lot of "scamware" out there :eek:

Are they doing this to all their current and furture software? Reason I ask I tried to download MSBA (Microsoft Baseline Security Analyzer v2.0 (for IT Professionals)) but I wasn't able to. I was asked to verify my version of Windows. MSBA is good software as well.

I believe MS has recently changed thier download policy...valid Product key required.

You previous message indicates the MS thinks your key is not valid....you can always call them and they can resolve the issue

Pretty much so, as I understand. Not for Win98SE and WinME of course, as they cannot verify those.

What are you running, where did you get your computer, do you have the Windows CD?

There are a variety of possibilities:

1. Your installation is corrupt (I doubt it though as the verification software should know the difference)
2. You were sold a machine with a ripped-off copy of Windows.
3. You bought the machine second user and it has a corporate version of Windows on it.........that vilates the corporate licence agreement. they should have erased it before offloading the machine.
4. The MS verification software has a bug in it.

That doesn't make sense to hate a company simply because they talked to another company about a buyout. If you read the complete article you will see that MS stopped this deal almost a month ago. They decided there was no value in the company and that the problems were to many to overcome. Seems like just another meritless reason for people to hate on MS to me...
