The devestation is utterly amazing. And it continues ever so slowly. I saw pictures of Biloxi that took my breath away. The entire sections of familiar coast utterly gone. I've also spent many many many weekends in the French Quarter. Amazing and dreadful.
the mayor of New Orleans has ordered a complete evacuation of the city. Those who didnt evacuate early took refuge in the Superdome, but when the levees broke, the water began to rise. Also, the toilets are broken, so those people need to leave.
I even saw a picture where a woman had to get help from others to transport the body of her dead husband out of the water. He had lung cancer and died from lack of oxygen.
I think it'll take several years before the land can be rebuilt upon.

Best videos of LA destruction I've seen yet... They better get that levy fixed damn quick or this will be just the begining of a larger monster.
You know what really pissed me off though.. I was watching the news and they where inteviewing people who were robbing houses and whatnot ... The reporter was like dont you see anything wrong with what your doing ... The guy was like well the cops haven't said anything so it's ok and well who cares ... I am like there's people who need help and the first damn thing on your mind is to go and rob someones home or store ???
What the hell is wrong with people ???
My prayers will be with those people hopefully things dont becoming any worse ...
IMO who cares if the UN is involved, Do you have ANY IDEA how many people are willing to go over their to Louisana and help, contribute anything and everything they can. There a lot of organizations in Florida that assist with this stuff. Not to mention ALL the other states willing to help with money food water as stated anything and everything.Quote:

TX has already stepped in. they're puttin people up in the Astrodome and in Ford Center.
Just because lives arn't lost doesn't mean they arn't ruined, or that a need for help doesn't exist. I garuntee you that any of the Asian "shantytowns" have had a much easier time recooperating from the tsunami than those effected by this powerful hurricane. Less life was lost, yes. However, these families are probably going to be struggling with dibilitating debt in the wake of this storm for years to come.Quote:

Hmmm....yes......where is our beloved UN? When the lights go out in any Metro humans become quite primitive don't they? And their mayor..........he was passing the buck like a guilty thief yesterday.................." ahh this was because of our coastal deterioration" .....................No!!!!!! This was partly because of your wild spending and neglect of your perimeters! They told them year after year that **** needed to be replaced and rebuilt and more pumps were needed. All them poor bastards stranded on that highway bitching about no infrastructure and accommodations....... well blame your buddy the mayor, the one you voted in and your states rep. Remember this is your go to guy, the one who's going to spend federal funds on you? Looting for water, food, first aid, and personal hygiene products is understandable...............TV's...........break his clavicle with a nightstick.
There are shelters open here now for people coming from LA/MI/AL (in Jacksonville), and all of the fire stations in the area are taking supplies, they have been all day. Now they're doing updates on the radio about what firestations to go to, cause the ones that are on the main interstates are now totally full and can't take anymore supplies. My husband and I took everything we could yesterday...all of our hurricane supplies (enough to go 3 wks w/ no power) and all the money we had left in checking this week, and the clothes we had stuck in boxes that we don't wear. I know, from what we went thru last year, how devastating this is...and these people are in a completely different league of destruction that we were. It's breath-taking, and I can't watch the news anymore.
