I refer you to our 2 newest additions:
Training/conference which has a whopping 4 posts in the last two months...and 4 posts total...
and...
Regulatory Compliance which has 100 posts ( of which I'm probably responsible for a third of the threads started...in fact I am )...which has had 0 ( zero ) posts in the last 30 days...and if it wasn't for Aspman's pr0n thread it'd only have 39 posts.
New forums have to have a generalized interest and not cater to a specific clientel...you may have a great idea for a forum, but if the only people interested in it are low posters it's going to be a dead forum.
This is where a forum benefits from it's post whores...people who post frequently...as opposed to those who post infrequently...to kick-start a new forum you have to have the interest of at least one good post whore...
a forum can be the greatest idea since sliced bread....but...if the only people interested in it are members who post 10 times a month...then...I refer you back to the 2 previously mentioned new additions.
Even Security News...another relatively new addition...got started by whoring ( intmon whored his way through the first threads )...of the 93 threads started 46 of them have been started by myself and intmon ( 20 and 26 respectively )...

Hrmm, when you have forums on here such as "General Computer Discussions", "Misc. Security Discussions", "Wireless Security", etc etc.. I mean, we've got quite a bit covered. Regardless, I see Christina's point concerning the PSP and everything going on with that. Newer app's are being accessible for download from the web, thus creating possibilities for security issues.
