roswell1329: Reactions to appearance before being taken seriously? And you think that only applies to the technology field? I hate to tell you sir, but that sort of thing happens (sadly) all the time. It's human nature sometimes to think one way of a person (I've done it, and yes.. sometimes it's wrong) based on appearance or something of that nature.
My point -- I highly doubt our profession is the only one where women (or people in general for that matter) have to deal with something like that.
EDIT: It's in GCC, none of the threads are needed. It's just off-topical discussion.

Ach pfft... women are perfectly capable of dealing with a bit of banter and most can give as good as they get if not better.
I've been on many a night out with female friends where I'm the only bloke. Their conversations were 100x filthier than anything my male mates have ever come out with. It's just an act with women they're waaaaaay worse than men.

All points well taken, and I agree with you that it is unfortunate that it happens everywhere, and not just the technology field. I just wanted to bring up the point that this sort of conversation only encourages it.
And I realize it's in GCC, but some topics should be considered inappropriate anywhere. If this were an office, and we were just spitballing by the watercooler, this conversation could be considered hararssment should anyone choose to make such an accusation.

Again, a great point. Women are more than capable of taking care of themselves. I only wanted to put forth the idea that they seem to have to deal with this kind of thing more than men ever do.
No offense intended to anyone by my last comments, and I didn't want to make a big deal out of this, but I wanted to say that this topic could be seen as a bit disrespectful to some AO members.

Hey roswell1329,
This isn't a flame but would anyone have bothered if the title had been:
Is it just me, or are geek guys always hot?
Not very likely I know and it's not that straightforward but I really hate the PC crowd.
-
Yer probably right, Aspman. I just gotta look politically correct. There may be chicks reading.
-
Wow, didn't think this would start up such an issue. I guess I just got lucky, cuz all of the "geek" girls at my school are funny, hot, and smart....If only I could get one of them to go out with me.
-
Staying on topic in AO...Man you ****ers never stay on topic. It went from Hot girls to....
If you start a tutorial on hex, it's going to end up in a discussion on what everyone's favorite Waffles are in two days. Lol.
Lol, TheJinx, be sure tot ell your wife and my kid I said hello ;) Dein pooty poo ist mein! :)

Hi roswell1329,
Tisk...tisk...
hummmmmmmmmmmm...politically correct statement if I ever heard one :D
Eg ;)
-
If you call your male friends cocks, that's perfectly acceptable. Just like rappers call their boys doggs, they call the girls bitches or female doggs...
-
Ok, you tell me...which chick is hotter?
