panther,
what exactly do you want us to do?
Maybe you should send your post to IBM and Apple and wait for their response! ;)

Yea - 64 bit systems. I'm pretty sure they'll be around by 2038Quote:
If there is ANYTHING that is in use today that uses a clock that is still being used mainstream in 2038 there could be a problem. As everything is currently moving towards a 64bit arch, I doubt this will end up being a problem.
Does anyone remember what computers looked like 33 years ago ??
In 2038 the computers we use now will seem just as odd and old !!
So I wouldn't lose any sleep over it..
I have old machines :DQuote:
nihil You have mod status doesnt that make you God now
Yeah, this about as dire a concern as a Y2K bug on a Commodore 64. :D
Hi
I am a firm believer that with the way the things are shaping up in the computer industry most of the computers will be replaced and the problem will never show up. By that time i hope that biotechnological advancements will be enough to produce wearable computers that will be widely in use and we can stay always connected with ease.
I remember they said satellites were going to fall out of the sky 5 years ago and that didn't happen. They said that life would be anarchy, time would stop, the anti christ would appear to kick your dog and all the alcohol in the world would turn to water on y2k. Nothing happened.
I worked on the largest non military network in the world at the time and we didn't even have a single hiccup.
The only thing that was y2k related for us was an accounting server that got missed and wasn't even used. It stopped updating tables correctly but it was still running...
So the majority of that original post is simply FUD. The rest will be addressed by 64bit architecture as already pointed out.
You don't even need 64 bit arch. There are 64 bit types currently on 32 bit systems. We have 33 years to change the type used to store the number of seconds since the epoch. I think we can handle it.
