I can't stop screaming...................someone from far away, please come down and abduct me before I go mad.......Quote:
'God' if you will, is pushing them down,
I cannot believe edumacated people can be so anal, in trying to certify there take on how the human race came to be, or how everything created was done by Bill Gates(oops), as I look for lightening bolts to strike me dead..
It boggles the mind, that in this day and age where science has really blossomed (DNA/RNA discoveries, medical breakthroughs, explaining away the universe, looking at the very beginnings) that the Church is still able to spout such stuff, who certifies these so called "Religious Scientists"?
What is scarier, is there are legions of people who sincerely belive these people, and I mean people, they may not understand a bit of what is being debated, but if so and so from the "ministry of silly walks" says it is done this way, well then by george it must be true.
Hopefully when some of these people reach the "pearly gates" they have their tickets with them...
dalek the Church was not spouting such stuff, they came out and said that religion has no place in science. Its the ID crowd taht is tryign to force bunk into mainstram science.
Yes, evolution has evidence and experiments and data to back up it being taught as fact. ID has NONE.Quote:

*awaits the flaming*
ID doesn't have to be about gods
I could be converted to the POV that ID DOES explain the whys and wherefores about life on earth .......
BUT
I will never accept that a 'god' has done it all, maybe an alien lifeform that began life here as an experiment, and they introduced certain 'things' into the plan, to see the effect, in essence 'they' are watching us like we watch the rats work out a maze in the lab ..........
ID by us on the rats environment does not make us gods ......
life MAY be expensive, but it DOES include a free ride round the sun every year :D
Heh I guess AO isn't as Post-Modern as I thought.Quote:

This may have been posted but I'll throw it in...

Breaking news on God

As the debate over "intelligent design" rages on, it is only fitting that a blog should be devoted to "Breaking News on God and Other Higher Beings in this World and the World to Come," as Godlorica touts itself. And keeping in line with arguments that favor the empirical study of creationism, this blog offers a good dose of scientific and technological perspectives, as this sampling of headlines indicates: "Noah's ark: a feasibility study" and "Could God be detected by vibrational waves?"

just for your continued amusement and/or discussion :D
foxyloxley: Look into the ID "theories"...they explicitly state some "higher being" so the ID folks are pushin a god like being, while the oragins of this idea pushed alians as the designers, that was never fleashed out enough to even be considered a pusdotheory.
I have no idea who I just quoted, so I apologize if I offend you.Quote:
Every religion has its 'skeletons in the closet' and none can be provided to be any kind of fact. So why is it taught in a place of education?
Evolution can NOT be proven by fact either, so why is it taught in a place of education? Natural selection is science (supported by facts). Genetics and how we end up with the traits we have is science (supported by facts). The theory of evolution is not.
He's absolutely right. I don't even feel bad conceding that. I think that anyone who puts forward an idea of how the universe came to be as factual is a moron.Quote:
Father Coyne was speaking informally at a conference in Florence when he said that intelligent design "isn't science, even though it pretends to be."
Despite what you would say, there is compelling evidence on either side, otherwise it would not be an issue. I believe, as always, that it comes down to the personal choice of either believing in matter that has always existed or some being that has always existed that at some point brought matter into existence.
I choose to adhere to this line of thought for my own reasons. Considering that I need to be writing two papers and studying for finals, I will have to come back to this discussion later. I apologize for not being able to respond in full right now.Quote:
Proponents of intelligent design argue that life on Earth is just too complex to have arisen without the aid of some kind of designer.
here is a wonderfull site covering most of the ID bunk http://www.talkorigins.org/
