dalek: you quoted epoch times and weeklystandard while bashing anoth news agency as propaganda. glass houses and all buddy, you don't get to question the reputation of any news source when the monne times are your source for information...why not jsut mention weekly world news while you are at it....
I think I quoted CNN as well.......All news agencies will be biased to a certain extent, depends on who owns it I guess (Turner,Black, etc). As for glass houses, I can question and will continue to do so, about all things newsworthy, wether it's the BBC, CBC, Fox (ugh) MacNeil-Lehrer, or Pravda, Tass, unlike some I do not totally believe what is fed to me by some talking head, if Anderson Cooper says it's so, I am supposed to believe it is so, or some overpaid journalist working for the CBC, or should I believe what is written because Hollinger-Black puts it in print.Quote:

If no one questions the media or the news organisations about their reporting then where does that leave us??? (Bush with another 4 years, thanks to a certain Florida Governor).
As for bombing the Al Jazeera,I did sort of backhandily say no, with the "But" at least that's the way I read it......(slowly backing off)Quote:
Shouldn't have talked about it, they should have just done it. But then again is this media outlet really that threatening, at least they keep us up to date that OBL is alive and is somewhere close by.
Anyway to get back OT, IMO this war is going nowhere, Bush wants to pull troops to appease the anti war people, this will be a big mistake, if you start something then have the b*lls to finish it properly.
They said this was not going to be done in a day, that it would/should take years, a country so steeped in tribal traditions is not going to embrace (our version )of "Democracy" at the point of a bayonet. If Bush pulls the troops instead of beefing them up, then the tribes will get involved in a civil war (North/South of USA had a bloody one), their reasons are territorial, and lets face it this area goes back to at least 2,000 BC so I think they have had a lot of time to hate each other?
there's no differance between storming a building that terrorists or bank robbers (whatever) have occupied and invading a country. the first thing you do is take down all lines of communications, transportation and power. aljazeera was to be bombed to make the population feel lost , isolated and defeated, not just because it is aljazeera. if anyone remembers bagdad's official radio station was broadcasting mis-information, saying the iraqii army was wining to keep spirits high and the fighting alive. this has to be stopped if the fighting is to be ended quickly. tony blair talked bush out of bombing aljazeera according to a report that nobody can produce the original of because it was conviently destroyed to protect the sources. (try pulling that one in a court of law)
Just to add to TEDOB1's post. If daddy would have continued into Bagdad and disarmed the enemy (basic war stratagem) the first time around, Saddam's elite guard wouldn't have been able to attack the Kurds and Saddam wouldn't have been able to threaten Bush senior. Which would leave junior with no reason to invade Iraq and probably leave him enough time to get back to the Texas Air National Guard and protect us from that relentless onslaught from the Vietnamese Air Force. Want to apologize to everyone. Classic newbie blunder, this has pretty much been said before. Guess I needed to vent. It just bothers me that this country elected such an imbecile. Common sense dictates that you vote for a leader smarter than yourself. If that held true during the last election, we need to sterilize 1\2 of the populace. cuz day 2 dum 2 bread!

Since when has that happened? As someone else pointed out 'common sense' is an oxymoron.Quote:

I thought Presidents (and Prime ministers) were elected on the basis of who lies best, has the biggest campaign fund, looks best on TV and is the best at promising not to raise income tax (just don't mention any other taxes) or the price of gas (petrol).
Any person who expresses an interest in becoming a politition should be taken into a remote area shot in the back of the head and buried in an unmarked grave. Polititions should be chosen by random lottery.
Speaking as the duly elected representative of local #29 of the Jackals, Hyenas and Vultures Union, I really must protest...................that would involve my members in an additional workload without adequate compensation.Quote:

I know that the gravediggers have a union, but we are talking demarcation lines here?
Might I recommend Russian Roulette................preferably with a Colt .45 ACP ;)Quote:
