My...isn't it interesting how times have changed :D...my father wouldn't be caught dead playing a video game...or in my day pinball...but the smarter we get and the more advanced road we travel, we need more ' games ' to play...

well...speaking as one of those " ppl " with those " KIDS " and" f-king opinions "...I think rating games is a good idea...it lets parents unfamiliar with the games know what to buy and what not to...it has no bearing on adults, who are not restricted in buying the games for themselves...OPPS! as for violent games breeding violence, or not...that's not the point...I wouldn't let my daughters watch pron...so why would I let a 7 year old watch violence...

I think that statement is key, the industry isn't doing anything wrong per se, the hysterical mob should be targetting outlets which sell to minors and the parents who buy them for the kids.

A lot of people just don't want to take responsibility for their own actions.

Harry Potter in Zombie Holocaust, My little Zombie, Action Zombie, SpongeBob Square Zombie etc, etc.

I think that people need to see that video games are here to stay and that they target a larger market other than kids. See people ages 20 to 35 are being targeted by these video game makers and they know what we want, Sex, Drugs, and lots and lots of Violence. You won’t see me playing Harry Potter, but slap GTA, FEAR, Battle Feild 2 and any other violent game and I’m Happy. My wife doesn’t understand what I get out of the games. I said they’re a stress reliever.

Christ I remember the day's when if I got caught reading a stupid comic book, I caught it from the old man, and yet at 13 my Mom let me put the centerfold of the May 1969 Playboy on my closet door, and wouldn't you know it, some old fart seen it and complained, well it had to come down :( (lived in an apartment and you could see into my bedroom from the back drive).
(I thought Mom was pretty cool for that.)


Like has been said before, it is up to the parents to limit or censor what their children get to watch, but ever since the boob tube (instant babysitter) arrived, parents have become more and more detached to what goes on in a kid's life, I mean really, you may try to stop little Joey from playing that particular bad video game, but if he goes over to Paul's house how are you going to monitor that?

I have two grown children, and they have had access to computers as well as video games and lyrics (I like Ozzy), my oldest (the boy) started to listen a few years back to groups like slayer,poison,manson and the like, I was kinda concerned, but then I reached back into the old memory block, and remembered what it used to be like as a teen, and I figured, you are going to have to place some faith and trust in your child at some point, they are going to make mistakes in life, that's how it should be, we as parents have to be careful not to sanitize everything they come into contact with, those that do are doing a child a disservice, because at some point they will leave the nest and it's an ugly world out there, and if you have cloistered them, they will find it real difficult to adjust.

The Gov't definatley should not (remember tipper) get involved, the industry needs to police itself better, and adults need to get educated as to what is out there and available.

I would agree with that...it is up to the parents...however without proper labeling that would be virtually impossible...unless a parent was unemployed and could spend all day veiwing games, etc...to see which ones were appropriate.

You don't...if Paul's parents aren't monitoring their kids then you don't let your kids go over there.

but it really depends upon what age we are talking about...whether we are talking about 7 or 17...if you would allow a child to veiw pron or play some of these games...I personally would consider you unfit to even be a parent.

They recommend harry potter but shoot down farcry..????What am i missing here ppl..I have played farcry and yes it does seem to be a little scary with the monsters which are FICTION!!!if i am not mistaken..So to conclude , they reckon it is ok for a child to play harry potter but not farcry...In harry potter you have a mixture of witch craft,evil etc..A child can according to them clearly distingguish between fiction and reality as far as Harry Potter is concerned but not Farcry????????PLEASE!!!!!Correct me if i am wrong but they should then be able to see the difference in any game between reality and fiction..

Agreed. If anything, because of the obsessive culture surrounding Harry Potter it could be deemed more problematic as far as I'm concerned...
