But given the fact that there is about a 99%, in MY opinion, chance of all **** hitting every fan if he does nuke anyone, is this really a smart and therefore respect garnishing move that he has made? i guess it will all depend on how he decides to back it up, keeping in mind that we can now create nukes small enough to take out only a few blocks, or only the whole earth. I guess only time will tell.
The question should be....who in their right mind is going to come to the defense of the terrorists who caused chirac to lose his cool and nuke the host country....???(maybe USSR/China, and if so who cares)Quote:

Well, while i agree who would come to the defense of terrorists that get bombed, i think the problem will lie in collateral damage. i dont care how accurate the bomb gets there WILL be inocents dead, and that is where i think the retaliation will come from.Quote:

And correct me if im wrong, but doesn't china have the largest standing army in the world? And again correct me if im wrong for history is by far not my strong suite, but i seem to remember the Chinese kicking our ass if it wasn't for the fact that we got the nuke first. Now that thye have it i would be a lot less quick to count out china's strength.
It doesn't matter how many troops China has, it's how effectivly they are trained, as I see it, their troops are untested in combat,(border skirmishes with the USSR does not count) their Navy has not fought a battle ever....(WWII they had no Navy)and I believe like the USSR, the majority are conscripts, what does this mean, it means training is usually substandard, most of these conscripts come from the rural areas (farms) and unless they are all going to be officers, their training consists of marching and firing a weapon.
During the Cold War, the standard ops for NATO troops if the ruskies came over the wall was to aim for their officers, get rid of the brass and the troops lose morale, also it was found out that most map reading training was given to the officers, not even their NCO's could read a map.Which says a lot about their training...
Also their equipment although a lot....... is probably substandard, in need of replacement, just check out the USSR's Navy, most of their ships are sitting at the wharf, because a) can't man them b) can't fuel them, c) can't find them.
The Chinese unless you have been living under a rock are scouring the planet for salvaged steel, what does that mean.....(they are beefing up their armies) will take them awhile to get to a point where they could confront the Western World on the battlefield...
Note: the only time China kicked butt was Korea......actually a stalemate, if the US and the rest had of really wanted to, North Korea would be a parking lot today.
Most of the time a lot of barking by USSR and China was just that barking, neither one would be a match for NATO..........

IF chirac bombed someone, and for whatever reason china decided they wanted to step in, who, if anoyne, would then jump in and back up china?

I don't believe China would jump in yet, they are sitting back and patiently observing. They want some Russian arse. The Chineese have been spanked many times by the USSR and they want a pound of flesh. They will wait in the wings until Russia extends itself in a conflict and then they will go after the now weakened Kremlin. Additionally watch closely as the U.S. and China's ties grow stronger. It is very strategic for both of our countries to be allies.
Now Chirac...If he nukes one Arab nation, he will cause all of them to unite against France and who on earth would support him? He's burned the Western & British Bridges. Germany, France and Russia were in bed with with Iraq, so that's their support group. (Better keep one eye towards the East, Russia...lol)

As for the former two..... North Korea and Iran, I would tend to believe France would have help(Globally) if these two tried to help China......
China as mentioned is playing the waiting game, they are still quasi communist but yet are embracing capitalism, sort of playing both side of the fence, and as they are showing they are buying up lots of 'Raw Materials" (Iron/Steel/Aluminum/Copper have all gone up in price because of China's demand, even Coal to the point that we are reopening a coal mine in Cape Breton that was closed and flooded a couple of years ago because coal was not economical enough to justify bringing it out of the ground, well thanks to China, that's changed) and the reason for this is because of the spending spree the Chinese are experiencing, and with this comes a need to revitalize their Armed Forces,and join the Western World as a Superpower...
When that happens a couple of things will take place that America will be unable to intercede in, and that is the retaking of Taiwan, and the complete takeover of Nepal....also a couple of islands that are in dispute with Japan and Russia...
I don't know if China will do anything. I know they are desperate to regain proper control of Taiwan but as for screwing the Russians well they're doing it economically. The old USSR states are almost 3rd world countries. Russia is still a crumbling mafia run wreak. China is in the ascendance, if they lash out it will be to get oil.
As for France...This is just Chirac saying, "Oi, over here, we're France listen to us, we're important too, oi, we've got the bomb don't you know, we hate terrorists too, hey look at us.......".

If Russia was as dumb as not being able to read a map they wouldn't have been a threat. Now I'm not going to defend France, I can't stand france, the french or the language.... But anyway, the country I live in gave the bin laden lovers the weapons they wanted to fight off Russia. America gave Osama a **** load of weapons and even commended him on a good fight. Then pissed him off by not having him help with the next attack.

Heres where I am quasi-worried about. As of now the nuke is the second -fourth, i know there have been advance such as anti-matter bombs and neutron etc so not sure where nukes fall anymore, most dangerous weapon man has. Now that france has threatened to use it they have sorta backed into a corner, a corner that happens to be on fire while falling from a plane. . . in other words they a re screwed.
Heres how i think of it. Lets say your on the playground and EVERYONE has a gun, just of different sizes. now you always get picked on and shot at by the bullies, which to you is everyone since noone likes you. You get fed up and bring a bazooka the next day, and announce that if anyone screws with you today is boomy time. How many of those other people who all have guns are going to wait for you to get pissed off and shoot, and how many will decide to preform a preemptive strike and attempt to destroy your ability to fire the bazooka.
Doesn't anyone else feel that this is something that should be a concern?
