Frankly, those who are protesting, be it peacefully or violently, are showing themselves for exactly what they are.... Intolerant... People who are intolerant of things only put up with them for so long... Then they remove the object from their lives... Good luck... The "I don't give a rats ass" generation was born in 1958... and I'm still here... Will remain here and it will take more than a few backwards tribesmen with oil money to get rid of me.... I've played soldiers with them a few times.... As soldiers go... I'd be more scared of your grannies... :D

Man...I do not envy kids today...having to grow up now with all the problems and sensitivities...we may not have had as many toys, or gadgets, but I think we had a lot more fun.

Now I was looking for a particular story but i cant seem to find it, anyway a Muslim leader here said he would give a reward of either 5 million or 50 million INR, to anyone who would kill the guy who drew this cartoon, he is just a member of the parliament he's salary is 20,000 INR but he's declared a reward much much higher then his total salary (he's been a member for only 4 years) in a state where parent sell their children for less then 500 INR (ALMOST 11 $). I'm not sure what I'm trying to say (forgive me for that) but in a country where government fails to feed its own population, where 40 percent of people live below poverty line. Some nut head declares a huge award. when he was interviewed on TV he didn't even have an idea what the cartoon looked and his answer were more off course then this world is today.

Instant gratification today is what's ruining the kids.Too much is handed to them, and as parents today, we are all to blame, actually I would say it all started when they took the "Strap" out of the classroom, they removed the "healthy fear" of authority we had as kids.

So much so that now we are reaping what has been sowed....

I don't know I can see both sides of this story. To a point where it appears the Islamic world is protesting and burning down Embassies and restraints for what westerners see as a basic freedom of speech issue, wearing a T-shirt with the cartoon on it is our passive aggressive way of showing our displeasure with the violence of the Islamic world, where the Islamic world is just aggressive. Though wearing the shirts totally doesn't help the situation.

The thing is, what if the shoe was on the other foot.....what if every time a Muslim insulted a Christian and we turned out onto the streets, and violently rioted, and burned their embassies or mosques.

Their is no rational amongst the so called elders of this religion, if Catholics were to start rioting, all it would take would be one word from the Pope (stop) and the rioting would stop, why because Christianity does believe it or not, listen to their Church leaders, most times.

The Muslims like to go on about how there is aprrox 1.3 Billion of them, well if you put together all of the Christians the number is 2.1 Billion, so bring it on sucka...

A factor I think here, is culture. Democracy has not had much of a foothold in the Middle East (except for Israel, and Iraq has the beginnings of it). Democracy is more of a Western ideal. Most of these Middle Eastern countries do not have true democratic government, and they have not had a tradition of freedom. Islam feeds this. Especially when countries are governed by Islamic law. I don't see how democracy and freedom can coexist with Islamic law. Although I am a Christian, I believe that government and religion are best separated. That is, I don't believe in state churches. I do not want the government supporting the church with taxes. I do not want the government enforcing Church laws. God does not need the government to protect Him. Besides, a true relationship with God cannot be legislated. It is a matter of the heart. If people do not love Him and respect Him, you cannot make them do it.

Hmmmm, as I see it, the main problem is that these people who are demonstrating don't even know the tenets of their own religion.

How many of them could cite the six pillars of Islam?

Are they aware that ALL images effigies and icons of ANY prophet, saint, angel, or of God are prohibited? Mohammed is only one prophet recognised by Islam. If you read the holy Koran you will see that Mohammed is mentioned only once, in his introduction. Jesus, on the other hand, is mentioned some 40 times ;) I would bet that they don't know that either!

Then we get to the reasoning behind the prohibition. In the time of Mohammed, Godlessness and idolatry was apparently rampant. The prohibition was largely to counteract idolatery. Mohammed and his followers were very self-effacing; once again deliberately so as not to detract in any way from the importance of God and his teaching. This was another reason for avoiding icons and images. To pay undue attention to the messenger may obfuscate the message?

However, the Moslems have accepted that imagery is a fundamental part of the Christian tradition without any problem. So, to react against images of Mohammed implies that he is more important than any of the other prophets (that was NOT his message) and is inconsistent.

They are completely wrong to react in the way that they are, this is just "rent a mob" which is probably why the Libyans shot so many of them. After all, if an infidel blasphemes who cares, that is to be expected, and they will go to hell. Similarly, if you believe that the name of Allah and his prophets need human protection, that is in itself blasphemy, and you will be joining the infidels :cool: Allah can look after himself and his own.

There is far too much muzzling going on......and that Italian is very brave, too bad there weren't more like him..

I don't know about that one. Recently graduated myself, I can get a pretty good idea of what this kid was probably like. It's a school newspaper, not even the students read it. The message has been out already for quite awhile, and some kid printing more of the same in an unheard-of publication will accomplish nothing.

Free speech doesn't really exist in public schools, with proper reason. This was probably just your garden-variety wannabe-activist who regurgitates everything CNN tells him as if it were his own opinion. If the kid wants to get a message out, he can do it on his own time. Making a potentially disruptive message to get attention has no place in school.

To me, these riots are just the destitute Islamic world trying to lash out and prove it still matters. If it weren't for the oil under their feet, they would have been forgotten a century ago. Instead of burning down embassys to get noticed, why don't they make an advance in sience, technology, music, literature, government, etc etc.

I'm not sure where the phrase originated, but a massive glass parking lot keeps looking more and more attractive. I only imagine that desire to become more proliferate once alternate fuel sources are maintained.

What is most astonishing to me is that there are still people in western
Europe and America who still beleive that this is all our fault,
and that we need to further compromise our laws and traditions
to restore "peace" When are we going to burn their embassies?
