Microsoft not using Windows much on critical tasks.

Fact is MS does **** up. Case point my Exchange Cluster I have talked about before. Windows isn't designed to handle what linux can. But they get better with each release. Unix wasn't designed to be a workstation either. MS has so many server product though it's hard to figure out wtf they are doing. They do have some things linux doesn't though. For instance there is no WSUS equivelent. On the flip side IIS can't touch Apache and for game server, don't get me started. Windows has to be rebooted at LEAST twice a week. :D But seriously spending money to rebuild a business platform because you have a MS or Linux fetish is not productive.

WSUS? Isn't that for patches over multiple machines? If so Linux can do that.

MS never has and never will use Linux... FreeBSD on the other hand...

IIRC When MS bought hotmail they tried to migrate from FreeBSD to Windows 2000 but stopped half way through because W2K couldn't handle the load..

MS doesn't have a problem with Open Source.. It does have a problem with the GPL.. That's why they use FreeBSD..

Tiger Shark: Perhaps you should ask for meds on that chemical imbalance that makes you think every time me and someone talk about anything that it's either an arguement, or a "My OS VS your OS" type thing?

Since the point seems to have been missed:

Anyone who uses Linux seems to be not allowed to say a word about Microsoft, or Windows. However when Microsoft attacks linux calling it a cancer and says gets the facts about how Linux blows.... No one says a word. Can someone explain this? I'm a Linux, windows, BeOS, DOS, BSD and Windows user. When something is said about Microsoft and their practice of attacking everything they se themselves, no one says anything, but a Linux user pointing this out is told "You're just starting an arguement, or this is your OS is better bull"....

How about instead of replys by you tiger saying how you're tired of the same old thing, why not point out why it's OK for Microsoft to attack everything else, but it's NOT OK for Unix to do the same?

I know the lab isn't. However when the worm was attacking using a DDOS, they used Akamai...Which was all Linux.

I don't believe you will find a single thread started by me where I "attack" _any_ OS. If you want to waste your time searching my 4500+ posts here doing so then have at it.... I may respond to threads like this one you just started where the premise of your posting at all was to say... "Oh, oh... Look, MS is proving that *nix is better because they use it where their own OS can't do the job". Don't BS me by trying to tell me that your motivation was anything other than that - because you do it all the time.

Personally, I don't give a rats ass about what MS, Bill Gates or anyone else does or says.... It simply doesn't mean _anything_ to me... I use an OS _I_ prefer.... Whether the people who write that OS want to squabble with thier competitors or not in inconsequential to me... It changes nothing... _I_ still prefer the OS I prefer... end of story.

GPL (and others like it) are what make Open Source--Open Source. How can Microsoft have a problem with the GPL and not have a problem with Open Source? They may or may not like the quaility of LInux, but it seems from some of their past statements, they have made criticisms of the FOSS model.
