no sound from the speakers

ok guys, i tested out the Und3ertak3r's advice and used KNOPPIX 3.9. I played the mp3 file and it was running fine but without any sound from both my speakers or woofers. I think the problem is in hardware i will be checking the mentioned jumpers and will try to borrow a spare sound card to check that.

ok i tried another sound board and all worked fine now i can hear the sound. One more thing that i observerd in my builtin sound card that its mic portion is working as i can record the sounds using that. Thank you guys for your support and helpful replies.
