I had to reset my whole computer to zero because Hp said I had a virus. But i didn't.This has been like maybe 3 weeks ago. Can you tell me if there is a quick way of finding out if you replied?
OK, this is starting to get slightly off topic - BUT :
do you have ANY regular security checks that you run as a matter of course ?
Is this your FIRST PC ?
Why would HP say you have a virus ?
on the front page, when you are online, the threads that are 'active' will be on top of the list shown..........Quote:

When you post, there is an option to have yourself notified via EMail for all replies to the thread. to get this, you have to click on the 'subscribe' link at the bottom of the thread.

if you do NOT have any regular security checks running, then use this thread to help you get started
I have norton antivirus if that's what you mean. I have blocked the firewall.I have blocked pop ups. So I have really nothing that should stop it, i'm just really frustrated right now. All I wanna do is be able to watch videos. It is not my first computer, but I'm not a computer genius.
I also have real player and that works fine through their website. Yahoo runs on Windows media player, and that seems to be the problem. I was told it is a software issue.
HP wants me to pay them $59.99 to help me with this.
I just think that there might be other options I can try before i pay that amount.
I know you said you have REAL player installed and that works fine : BUT :Quote:

HOW did you block the F/W ?
WHICH F/W ?
you may have a rule / set it so that it does not allow WMP to access the net ???
and ditto for the pop ups ??
what exactly have you done ?
Well you could try opening up WMP, go to Tools > Options > Network > Make sure Multicast, UDP, TCP and HTTP are all checked in the "receive streaming Media Protocols section.
Then go to Performance and "reset to defaults". They should be 'Detect connection speed automaticaly' and 'Use default buffering', then click the Advanced button whilst you are here and make sure all the following options are checked:
Set Digital Video to large and then enable all the following:
Use video mixing renderer
Use overlays
Use YUV flipping
Use RGB flipping
Use Primary surfaces
Drop frames to keep AV in sync
Display full-screen controls (optional)
Use video smoothing
Dont enable Use high quality mode just yet - see if we can get it working first.
This wont effect web content but its a good idea to make sure all 5 options are checked in the DVD Video section.
If this doesn't work, try quickly turning your firewall of and then reloading the site and see if you can vIEw the relevant media.
I turned the firewall off on norton. I turned off the pop ub blocker from earthlink toolbar.
all of that is checked. Still won't play. OOOHHH MMYYYYYYY GGOOOOOD. You don't even understand how frustrating this is. :fpissed:
Next go to your internet options > advanced > look under the Multimedia section and make sure you have 'Play Video, sounds and animations in web pages' checked.
Do you get this problem with one particualr site or all sites?
If this doesnt help can you post exactly what Firewall, AV, pop up blocker and all the rest of it, please.
Preferably in more than 5 words! :D
ok did that too. I can't play any videos from yahoo.com, mtv.com, vh1, fuse, msn.....
They all start to "load" and nothing happens after that. Norton antivirus earthlink pop up blocker.
