A simple wget works fine when Microsoft does transfer you to the file. The 3.1G ISO will be on my computer in a few hours, but I'll be at home then, so I'll install that on tuesday most likely.

BitTorrent has many copies already. Even the main homepage has a link.
Always get BitTorrent from sourceforge or BitTorrent.com
isn't that what I just posted?Quote:

Damn I'm good.
i just wanted to point out the obvious to everyone, just to ensure the obvious is taken into account, and i underlined the really obvious-obvious part:
any testing results yet? my lab is currently getting a hardware upgrade, so it will be awhile for me.Quote:
In addition, once you install Windows Vista Beta 2 (or RC1) you cannot roll back to the previous operating system installation—you will either have to acquire and install the final released edition of Windows Vista or reinstall a previous edition of Windows. Before installing Windows Vista Beta 2 on any computer, please remember to back up all your files.
Ahh.. is this question ..IS THIS A LIVE CD - OS.. answer is NO.. YOu will need to install it on your HDD, that is as in a dual-Boot with your existing os..or in a Virtual enviroment aka VM ware..or as a clean installation.. Oh there is the (as it appears from TheShad0w's warning) option of an upgrade install..Quote:
This is an iso file so im assuming that you have to run it off a CD (i didn't finish downloading it yet)...or is there a way to get it on ur HD to boot it off that?
And it will be a DVD that will be going in your burner...
Realise that with all these Beta's they will only operate for a limited period of time.. but most of us are aware of this?

Oops my bad.. :p i didn't read all the posts correctly, and didn't check the urls against the ones that i had.
kris,!
oh man, i just realised that my post could have came off as a 'negative' reply. I did not meant that to be negitive at all, i just was a little confused...just so that nothing is started ;)
ohh, thanks..I have just started experimenting with OSs, and all the ones i downloaded were ISO, and they were all live, so i assumed that they went together. :rolleyes:Quote:

Hey Hey,
I can't speak for this beta yet (at the time of typing i only have 4% downloaded) however, the Feb CTP release wouldn't install in VMWare, it's a known problem... although I believe there are work arounds... You'll need to use Virtual PC or Virtual Server (Virtual Server 2005 R2 is available free of charge to download, so it's prolly the best option) and Virtual Server also has some pretty nice functionality.. (Up to 6% now)
Anyways... I've got an hour and a half left in my download.. Then about a day for me to upload it to my server and then it will be available from there..
Peace,
HT
I just installed it in vmware server beta 1.0.0 build-24927. No problems.
VMWare tools seem to install just fine too. MUCH better performance after you install them... ;)
So far, its running very nicely on a dual core pentium d (3.2ghz) with 1.5gb ram allocated to it.
Is anyone else having problems getting the installation to recognize partitions on the harddrive. I have 44GB free to play with....more if I removed Windows XP x64 which is taking up another 30GB. I'm running AMD64 3000 overclocked 2.25G with 512 of ram. Running from the DVD from cold start, it can not fine a suitable partition that matches its specs. I formatted the partition using their option. Running the installation from X64 is a joke also. Gives me an error that I need 400Megs for temp storage. The harddrive is a popular model. The motherboard is a '2005 creation. Those Micocrap specs for a beefy machine is a martketing joke.
BTW, I see the programmers still place speed bumps and traps into windows. Even the installation felt slow. Always ups the temperature even at idle and harddrive spins at the wrong times. Beep bump.
Back to Linux....
