That was an interesting survey... Although I'm not sure that you'd gather any real information from it..
It asks a few questions about consoles and then goes on to computer games.. It also doesn't take into account why you use the computer games... etc... Or what classifies you as an "addict" ..
I own 4 consoles... NES, Sega Genesis, Game Cube and Playstation 2... I also own an Atari Flashback (Hardcoded with 40 games (20 classic and 20 "new")). However, I have the eye toy and DDR Mat for the PS2... I used to use those for my nightly exercise routine... I also have a DS Lite... and I do the Brain Age training each day... It's not gaming like sitting for hours playing FPS which have no real goal.. If I am playing a game.. it's a strategy game which requires thought (but are fun at the same time) (Starcraft (PC) and lately Startrek Tactical Assault (DS Lite).
At work for the first 8 months it was Starcraft (daily) then Quake 3 in between SC games... Now it's Warcraft III with the Dota Allstars Map... I don't consider this a gaming addiction, even though it's a daily ritual... It's team building and stress relief...
Gaming goes way beyond killing brain cells... I think that it can be a positive power on society... Team games can build teamwork skills, strategy games help to develop logical thinking (much like chess was considered an intellectual game in the past)... There are people that say FPS helps to build hand-eye co-ordination.. to that I say BS... people that play FPS are seldom seen throwing a ball and even if they are capable of throwing it... very few are able to catch it.. FPS could be considered a detriment.. but I don't blame the games.. I blame the parents who use the games as a method of parenting.... The game consoles are used to watch the kids... Then when the kids grow up and do something violent because they didn't have a proper upbringing (they were never taught right from wrong... or morals because they learned from these uses FPS games)... they use video games as a scape goat...
Peace,
