Yes the two days of the year when in England the big stores can't open are Easter Sunday and Christmas Day. Stupid when there's no evidence Jesus was even born around Christmas Day, but rather nice for the staff who otherwise would be running around shops selling goods like there was no tomorrow.
If you work for the NHS then you get more than Good Friday and Easter Monday - every bank holiday gives them the Tuesday off as well. All right for some!
We have like no holidays here, compared to the UK. I often wonder how the economy functions there. Everytime I turn around my friends there are telling me they have a bank holiday or some other. Half the country closes down between xmas and New Years.
You just have different holidays, like thanksgiving and independence day.
That's just 2. Discounting 2 weeks vacation, we get about 9 to 13 national holidays off of work, a yr, depending on the company. The UK gets what, 24?
Err, not quite. I get 21 days vacation, plus 8 days bank holiday. Again, the 21 days depends on how long you've been with the company, but a stingy company can include the bank holidays as part of the statutory 4 weeks' holiday.
