Hey nihil,
went to the update site. there are no updates. security or otherwise, last security update i had received was on the 12th of june. thats around the time i had installed nero. and if memory serves me right, the comp had shutdown during the installation of one of these updates.
will try "autopatcher" it has some security updates.
loaded the security update which belarc said. now its showing all green ticks
and yeah my csi score went up to 2.5

Hi Baggi,
Have you tried to go into <Control Panel>, "add & remove programs" and get rid of the failed security update?
Then try the Windows update site. On the left hand side take the "Review Your Update History" option and check to see if there is a failed item there. It gives you instructions on what to do if you find any.
I suspect that it thinks it worked, which is why it isn't showing any update options.

Further thoughts.....................
Go here: http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;en-us;916247
And run the tool. It should tell you why the WGA has/is failing.
