How can we increase the downloading speed of torrents

Hi KK,

I really don't know the answer for sure, but I am beginning to suspect that your ISP might be "throttling" bittorrents.

I think that Limewire might be the more traditional downloading mechanism, so isn't detected?

That is a pure guess, but I have been reading lately about ISPs taking action to restrict the use of bittorrents on their servers. As far as I know this is not an attempt to enforce copyright or anything, it is the usual bandwidth and greed scenario.

as far as i know my ISP banns the website and he does not takes a min to ban any website

out of those famous websites are www.orkut.com is one of them

and if they really wanted to take action of limewire and utorrent they would have banned their websites also but they have not done yet which makes them semi legal.


even though torrent search engine www.torrentscan.com is banned here

but www.mininova.com works
again means mininova turns legal

now what is the actual scenario i just cannt figure out

I feel that your ISP is throttling torrents rather than blocking content? but that doesn't make much sense either as he makes money out of selling bandwidth? so if people want more, you just sell them more?

Can you try something other than uTorrent just to check that hypothesis?

KK could try TOR to acess the banned Websites.. uT uses a number of ports.. the speed guide in uT will tell you which port your installation uses..
There is also a test in there.. Didn't you RTFM?..

as for Nihils comment.. give Azureus a run.. it is a respected BT client..free.. and clean.... Oonly issue I ever had was it being Java based you will take a performance hit on your PC.. and If you try it RTFM.. and be sure that your forwarding the correct port from your router..

Hey there i have found one thing which is !!!!

www.mininova.com is not a good site for downloading stuff like movies or heavy downloads

i used the same torrents on 3 different P2P like bittorrent / utorrent / fasttorrent / and Azureus finally the result was the same 1kb to 10kb average speed and it didnt even exceed to 15kb or higher where as lime wire was much more faster then we can expect it reached upto 67kb speed which lead me to download 3 gb in a day

I use to use HSS for accessing those websites but i have stopped using it as i now a days i dont really access those websites

but i have never heard niether tried this TOR thing i went on googling that but this TOR websites are also banned here. how do that works anyways
