Well that is my main office, but since I am a consultant, I am not usually there. Right now, I working in Chicago at Higgins and River Road.
Small world.....I pass the nortel building nearly every day...lol. What company do you work for? What town/city do you live in?

It's an incestuous world...

I work for Corus Americda Inc. (formerly British Steel). UK based company. We're on the 20th floor in the Nortel building. I live in Bloomingdale right next to Stratford Square mall. Man I eat at that Friday's about once a week or so!
haha, this is pretty funny.
-
I used to live in roselle, and now I live in Streamwood. I go work out at the Lifetime Fitness Health Club in Bloomingdale (across from the mall) almost every day.

i am a 21 year old associate information management specialist for the air force reserve base in pittsburgh, pa. i am responsible for a little bit of everything i suppose. mostly user level support and networking. of course security is a major issue here. i hold a secret clearance already and would like to earn top secret at some point. pretty much all my knowledge is self taught from experience. security and networking are my favorite areas of IT and would like to get into consulting on the side for both.

I was hired as a C++/Java programmer but since it is a small company, I now develop software while acting as a UNIX admin. Luckily we have lots of capital so we have many nice Sun Servers. We also have an in house userbase of about 50 people, so I must listen to their stupidity and then ask my coworker to go deal with it. It isn't too easy juggling big and complex programming projects while keeping everything running smoothly and making enough to time to put you idiots down. But I manage, why? Because I am capable.
-
umm lets see I am a serverly underpaid tech, with a CNA and CCNA, starting on the CCNP
No one wants to give me a real job because I am 19
and AT&T pays me **** for being a Senior tech,
But on the up hand I am juicing them to pay for me to go to school.
Besides that Life is ok I still have a job after the whole @home crap
and oy yea I live in Manitoba, (Canada)
Legacy Boy

As far as jobs i worked at compusa for a year and a half up till this past sepember when i quit. now i'm doin preety mcuh nothing, just set up a small network in my fathers bussiness. And i'm just kickin back with my friends.
Now i'm lookin for a nice network/ tech job.

Invictus: I would have to agree with you. . .I have a passion for networking which I've just recently discovered, but I can see a path to get there through electrical engineering. Additionally, I have also had a passion for computer HARDWARE rather than software. . .so it seems logical for myself.

i was actually very lucky. i am not an official gov employee, but a government contractor. a good friend and fellow techie i knew has been working here for quite some time. when the position opened up, he recommended me and gave them my resume. it took almost a year to actually get hired. a lot of phone interviews and such went on and then finally, after new years, they decided to hire me based on my reviews from former employers that i have been doing on call contracting work for during the last couple of years. trust me, it was not an easy position to get! especially here in pittsburgh. it is very hard to find a nice paying techie job here that is not temp or contract work if you are under the age of 35 it seems. no matter how much experience or pieces of paper you have behind you. if you do get a job near the city, you will usually be very underpaid. unless you are very luky. networking with other people in the field is very important.

Hey, all. Thought I'd add my $.02
I'm 29. My current job is a Central Office Technician for a telecom company, work mostly on a Nortel DMS100 switch. Networking and computer security is just my hobby, although I'm thinking of transitioning into the IT field...just need to get some additional training for resume purposes. I've spent pretty much my whole adult life doing telecom, and it's pretty interesting MOST of the time...

We have some pretty interesting people in here. Variety is the spice of life!
As for me...
I'm 27 - while in nursing school discovered a love for computers and switched gears. Been programming for three years and love it. I'm brain dead at the end of the day but hey - it's all part of the game I suppose.
:D
Always love to see the 'finished product.' But don't we all, I suppose!

Humm.. general newbie here, I have a talent with computers, been using them since a junior in highschool..lol. Won't say how long ago that was, but find the internet, computer software, etc.. absolutely intriguing. If you let me play with it, or set me in front of it, I can learn it. I want to learn Html, Java, Flash, etc.
I do everything in R/L from Business Development, Sales, Marketing - graphics, etc.
Currently working on a General Product Brochure for a manufactuering company. I want to learn about security and go to work for a high tech company in Florida around the Tampa area when I move later this year.. (I have the old school, basic/cobol/pascal/jcl and a zillion other software applications). I would LOVE to have a job like Cat on TechTv or one wehre I get paid to test the security of websites, etc. That jsut seems the ultimate high. Either that, or rofl, just learn the in's and out's of security, etc.. just for the pure joy of the knowledge. *smile*

im 16 and have no life i play video games and write stupid c++ programs and then i got a trojan and got pissed and got in to security.

I may even have to show them how to turn on a comp! I do anything and everything. :)

I currently am trying to break into the admin/security world. I have lots of knowledge but no certs to proove it. I am currently getting my computer engineering degree. I'm currently an operator for a new GPS tracking emergency phone. Its actually pretty cool. I can track the phone anywhere in the us and provide any emergency services. Its a good job for a student and I can't really complain.

I'm 16 years old and I work at Kennywood amusement park. The park is currently closed right now so I have to wait to work again. It's an okay job I make over minimum wage which is pretty good. I really want to do something with networking someday. I still have two years of highschool so I have a while to decide. I love computers that's where I want to go.

I'm 20 years old. I have been employed full time as a web designer / developer for a little over 3 years. HTML, ASP, PHP, SQL Server, and currently learning XML. I got my Master CIW Site Designer certification last year (www.ciwcertified.com). A few of my friends and I are working on starting our own web development company. Things are picking up slowly. For our company I handle all the networking (windows 2k), and the database work for the client sites.

I'm a 15yrs old kid that currently has a temp. job with an OPSEC alliance development team and I don't make much,
I'm pretty experienced with most OPSEC related stuff, and most <if not all> major FWs, IDS <both NIDS and HIDS, heurystic and rulebased>, Forensic analysis, Auth, VPN..

Weeelllll, I am a 28 year old going back to school type...lol. I actually spent about the last five years working at a small credit union as their loan officer/computer fixer(when we called our tech guys, it ended with me on the floor crawling around while they said umm, try this, no, try that!) So, because I knew so much about computers, I decided to go to school....HAHA! Can I just say now, that I knew exactly Jacksh!t, as it turns out. But I am still enjoying going to school, and I am about halfway through my MCSE courses, I will be done June 30.
I would really like to be like TechieChick, I also live in a very small town with slim to no options for their computer and networking needs. I am really interested in networking, but have figured out unless your network is secure....it doesn't matter how good it is, it won't last. My biggest problem is that when I read something in the book and then try it on my computer, I usually break my computer....but on the bright side, I seem to learn more fixing it after it's broke than I did reading it....lol!
Well that's me....not to exciting, but what I get up for every morning....
Oh, yeah, I wound up here because ALL of the instructors I had said it was a really good security site, and seems maybe they were right!!

I've become a hardware monkey!). While I'm mostly on the networking side I am trying to use my spare time to learn some programming mostly in the assembly and C areas.
I suppose with my little robot project I will be brushing up on BASIC again. I never dies! I swear.
