In the past in Greece many people ahve said that movies which shows cigarettes wouldn't be shown, but this of course didn't happen. Very stupid-i know- ever1 here though about this.

Because of Cigarettes? Yeesh!
Next thing they'll do is ban anything that has two guys talking in a "suggestive" way, including many Disney movies! People seriously need to get a life.
I found a site that said a state had banned games, movies, books, anything, that had any kind of red fluid on the cover....

I really can't understand how governments (especially mine) can suggest such stupid things.
Maybe i know, because they don't have brain...

:D
What can you do, eh?
(Well actually, there's lots. (Besides boycotting) There's petition, rallies, debates, protests, bootleg, media support, etc....(ok some are "illegal" :P))
This is why I have this curiosity. Because I want to know what is hidden behind the walls of politics.
I've heard (I mentioned before) that the Canadian and American governments are trying to ban GTA3 and GTA3 ViceCity. How can you remove something from the market after having it there for months? Sheesh! ii-monk is correct, they lack mass between the ears.... :)

Go buy two or three extra copies of GTA 3 and GTA 3 Vice City because if they are banned they will be worth gold. In fact I bet people are doing this just at the threat of a ban. The company is probably laughing all the way to the bank. Truthfully I have never played them but just hearing they might be banned makes me want to. Wow, our government at work :D
Maybe the folks in Congress should crank up some CCR and listen to their song "Bootleg". It might give them a clue.
Very true, there would be a HUGE bootleg market to the general population if it gets banned.
SodeMoca5: GTA3 is a hell of alot of fun, especially with friends around competing with each other at how many cop cars they can blow up. The missions are sometimes repetitive, but are mostly fun and hard.
On the CS note, i dont think i would even blink at being T just after 9-11, it jus wouldnt occur to me that people would actually care which team they are on other than personal gun preference. Though there might be some reservations about that airport map.
I don't want to go off topic, but Striek, here's an online version of Mein Kampf. If you're in the US or the EU, you're not supposed to click that link, cause it'll make you violate copyright.
The English translation got copyrighted in 1935, and Canada applies a life+50 rule for copyrights, so Mein Kampf is in the public domain in Canada right now - no need to buy the book ;)
A little more on topic: here's a list of books that have been banned throughout history. The reasons for the bannings are pretty interesting: obscenity, distribution of birth control information, explicit language, blasphemy, extreme voilence,...
Oh, and to add a game to your list: Hooligans, Storm over Europe
Quote:
This is a game. Not a shrine for real-life hooligan worshippers.
If you are interested in the game, we invite you to investigate this site further.
If you are interested in real-life hooligan drama, we have nothing to offer.

About the CS, personally I didn't hold anyone at odds for it. In fact my post said I was not eager to be a T, in many of the maps I still had to be just to keep teams even. However many of the players on there were very abusive of those playing T's. It was quite crass. I was attacked when I mentioned basically the same sentiment I did here.
One interesting note was that on one server the foreigners (and me as a T) on dust just wiped out the CT's constantly. This probably led to some of the more crass statements as well. Your point about weapons is well taken and since my favorite is the M-4 or the Aug I get one favorite no matter which side (this is assuming I am not going to be an awphole).
Sorry to be off topic just wanted to clarify that minor point.
Hey Negative,
Thanks a lot for the link to the book, I'll crank out a copy at the school printers :D
It's totally true about the copyright thing in Canada. Long live public access!
Thanks also for the link to the list of banned books. It seems with all the information I've been gathering here and on the search engines, I'm better off changing my websection from banned games to just plain banned items.
What do you people think? Banned games only or banned everything?
I remember a game called Auschwitz that, I believe, was banned. It very well could have been a Win 3.x game, but I'm not sure.
Don't remember who manufactured it.
HOOLIGANS: Storm Over Europe
Here's a game that has also been banned, seems to have a gameplay similar to Warcraft and Red Alert. It's only allowed in 8 countries! Those who want to try it out, can get the DEMO off the site.
I looked for the above game and found a document, but can't read it due to it being in pdf (and my reader is corrupt) Can someone let me know if it's relative to the game?

I don't if Greece the gov has banned any game only real games (dolls) or sweats. Recently i remember my gov banned some dolls that were dead dolls on (how do u say it, where people put deads like a bed, the dracula sleep on it)... with a cross with the Jesus that tranform to a knife. And shops sell this for kids from about 4 years old.
Hey All,
Another update to this tread, WWE/WWF (Whatever way you know them) is being told by the British Government to remove their THQ games with the WWF logo due to Court decisions that WWF (World Wildlife Funds) is the owner of the WWF accronym. Now WWE (World Wrestling Entertainment) must get the THQ company to recall all games with the WWF logos, redesign it and then re-release the game. Due to such an overwhelming loss for the THQ company, THQ will probably be seeking payment by WWE for their losses.
So does that mean that the British public will miss out on wrestling games? Or will THQ rework the product and release newer copies later?

I wish i could know...
finally i found this post! i was gunna create a seperate post for this but im kinda thiking its better here, i found this a lil bit ago and thought id add it here for you.
Spy Hunter
There is an entire videogame secretly embedded in Microsoft Excel 2000. "Spy Hunter," a shoot-'em-up driving game, in which race cars zoom down a highway, maneuvering around oil slicks and other obstacles, can be opened with a few keystrokes.
To find the game: Under File menu, click "Save as Web Page," then "Selection: Sheet" and "Publish." Next, choose "Add Interactivity" and save to an .htm page on your drive. Load the .htm page with Internet Explorer. You should see Excel in the center of the page. Scroll down to row 2000, and tab across so that WC is the active column. Hold down "Shift" and press the space bar to highlight the WC cell. Then simultaneously depress Shift + Crtl + Alt and click the four-color "Office" logo in the upper-left-hand corner. If you have the original Excel 2000, the game will appear. Use the arrow keys to drive, spacebar to fire, "O" to drop oil slicks, and "H" for your headlights when it gets dark.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
thats not the only one, i cant remember exactly what the commands are but theres a way to go threw excel and do a few clicks and keys and youll see a door, you use arrows i think to move up and down and if you can get to the end youll see a part that says, souls of the damned or something, with a pic of the original Microsoft team on the wall

ok editing for whoever negged me saying : banned/unreleased game?
hmmm lets think about this, banned? not really, unreleased? well can YOU find it on the shelves? im pretty sure that counts man.
Thanks for the info.
That blows that you got negged.
Sure, it's not a Banned or unreleased game, but it's an easter egg.
Easter eggs are basically hidden games which, in a sense are unreleased to the general public. Easter Eggs are just like banned games that make it to the net, you wouldn't know unless someone else told you!
Thanks Gore.
Recently , i was at the mall and i decided to purchase Vice City. The game is rated M for mature so i could not buy it because i was not 17 and i do not have a license. So , i went up to some random guy standing next to the store and had him buy it for me.I let him keep a good percentage of the change that i had received , so its all good :)

Uhm? How does this pertain to banned/unreleased games?
Basically, you just explained bootleg. (of sorts)
I'll refrain from negging you, but learn from this for the future.....
tyger_claw,
Have you heard about "BMX XXX" or "Dead or Alive Xtreme Beach Volleyball"???
I think they were banned, at least for kids... sorry if not :D
Bye.
From what I can find BMXXX is not banned. The concept of the game certainly puts it on the risque list with GTA3 and SOF, but remains on the market. The only thing I can come across to ban about the game is this:
As for Dead Or Alive, the series has never gone under certain vision of being banned. It's nothing near as bad as a Mortal Kombat type game (with gore and decapitations) and nothing came up when searched for.Quote:
Designed for audiences over the age of 17, www.bmxxxx.com features product information, downloadable movies and collectible copies of the Company's controversial print advertisements, which were banned by the leading video game and mass-market publications due to their irreverent humor which highlighted elements from the game Source
*Further search has found that the game BMXXX is banned in Australia unless changes are made (which I doubt will) Source
And while on the subject. Honduras bans a whack of "violent" games. Some listed are Mortal Kombat, Resident Evil, Turok, House of the Dead, Duke Nukem, Shadowman, Quake, Killer Instinct, Doom, Legacy of Kain, Street Fighter, and Perfect Dark. Source
mupp3t & vorlin: I fount a review for postal, see here also, here's the official site for Postal 2
Information for those who don't know.
Newgrounds.com is a flash movie/game site that the general public can publish their products for others to view. I'm sure that more then half of it's content would be considered too much for most political factions.....
Also, most of the information gathered is put onto my website, just not uploaded yet.
I should have it up by Saturday. (For those who care)
Well... i will wait. Nice site.
ok but if these games are banned and never saw the light of day, how are you people able to find them and play them? Is it like a bootleg or something of that effect?
Close, see some programmers spend lots of time and personal sacrifice to complete these games, and finding out that some life work won't make the public, they become a little angered and decided to take an unfinished copy home and make it available to the public in different forms.
There's also the possibility of moles, testers, and beta versions that leak into the public (look at WinXP)
That's how we get copies or knowledge of the games.
Also, some games showcase their product at the E3 convention in Vegas, which allows the net info about the game.
BTW, ii-monk, the site layout will be different come Saturday, that's my *older* look. :p
You're right Tyger_claw. These are the reasons. The site is nice. I am looking forward to seeing the new one. I updated the first page of our team's site and make it, to have two grey photos and when the cursor goes on them they come color. Not a nice describtion, but nice in seeing it. From here.
Just to let you all know, my sites banned section is up with some content to it.
So check it out!
I've done it. It's good and especially the Thrill Kills. Nice graphics, but very violent. EA made a big mistake, has paid some programmers to make the game and in the last days of creation they said they wouldn't published it, but the game had already many fan that became very angry. As they say on their site, they black mail EA with embarco.
