Ok, I just got the Platinum Collection. It was in the Staples "clearance bin". $10 for all 5 games. I'm getting the other addons and then I'll be ready.
Do I need the headset/mic too? I have separate ones... but I saw a decent all in one for pretty cheap. You going to use this for the teamspeak server? Or does the game have the ability built in?
Mic is optional - all you need to do is press a button and speak.

you dont need a mic to play but does help as CS is team based its easier to give directions, inform team if you spot enemy, what area your covering etc
CS also has a voice chat built in so no need to sue team speak etc - just bind a key - and when you press it spek - only your own team will be able to hear it as well - plus is good for mucking about with on public servers :) lol
GbinaryR - yup we are forming an AO CS clan - will be working on clan site over next couple of days so should have something up soon - just waiting to hear back from Intmon about us using the AO tag

Since we have 5 members contributing per month, heres what I'v calculated the cost to be per member per month.
16 player Private Counterstike Server @ 34.95 per month
Comes out to $6.99 per person.
Pretty cheap. Thats just about a double whopper supersized at Burger King. lol

Are we going to have some sort of anti-cheat mod thing? Like Cheating-Death? I was kicked out from at least 6 servers because I got 4 headshots in a row (without cheating)

I guess we could, but I guess we could also just watch closely for cheaters.
As for the mods that will be on it:
- AMX Admin mod. This admin mod allows for pop-up style menus to admin the server
- PTB Player team balancing mod. This mod check the stats of the players, and ensure that the teams don't become stacked.
- UA Custom Cheat Detection scripts. My server community runs some very experimental anti-cheat detection software which really works well. CD is not reccomended IMO.
- Amx Map Voting enabled. This allows players to interactivly vote upon the next map to be played.
Those are the basic set of mods that you will want to put on the server.

BTW: A new donation form is in the works which will allow us to track exactly who contributed what, and make that available on the website.

i have been accused quite a few times as well - once for wall hacking....but the guy hid in the same place every round - so i just blasted through the wall cause i knew he was going to be camping there - wasn't cheating he was just being a predictable idiot ;)
tho i think if someone seems to be getting alot of lucky shots etc esp in clan matches a demo maybe requested - which shouldn't be a problem(!?)

For a 16 player Private CS server its $34.95 a month which comes down to like $6.75 per paying member.
I wonder what the difference is between a private, and a public server though? As the public is more expensive for a 16 player.
I'm downloading the 1.5 patch right now for CS. It will be done in 30 minutes, but I have to do some homework so I'll try to play with it a little later and get use to it. :D

I would suggest that you pay montly though, so we can make sure everything does go smoothly with this.
Most likely a private server is only for members, while a public server is available to the public. So with a private server, only people we invite can join and with a public server anyone can join. Also, does Paypal charge you for the transfer?

The previous company that I was looking at had a 16 player public server for $50 a month. They also said you could set passwords for matches or whatever you needed.
Well I was thinking the following:
Val lives in Europe, I live in California, you live "down south." We might not all be on at the same time and so maybe having a public server would be better. We could all try to get on at the same time every once in a while. We could have several admins to kick out the riff raff and make sure everyone is having a good time.

No I don't get charged for paypal transfers, unless you use a credit card, but if you use a credit card, its only like .50 cent for 10.00 dollars.
