most of my opinion of the people in the "bible belt" where Bush won by the largest majorities, comes from LIVING THERE. I see these "bush supporters" everyday. I hear them everywhere. A 45 year old man with a bush/cheney sign in his yard, and a "vote republican/Tom Coburn" sign, said to me "You are probably one of those fagots who voted for kerry ain't yah?"
At school, a friend of mine said he voted for kerry, his english teacher then took a poll from the class: 24 Bush, 1 Kerry. Not one of the 24 Bush supporters could come up with a reason to vote for him. He had reason to vote for Kerry. The teacher then told my friend that it was "ridiculous how he was wasting his vote for someone other than a republican"
Yeah, you all go on and stereotype the democrats. Saying "This is what a democrat would do. blah blah" Notice, how i said "The stereotypical." Hey, dumbass, if i was stereotyping, i wouldnt have said "The stereotypical" I would have just made a generalization, genius.
You just wait and watch, and you all will be digging your vote from yesterday from your ass for the next 4 years after you are constantly reminded painfully, again and again, about how dumb you used your ballot.
Since I live in a Republican stronghold, I voted for Nater,my party (I). I wanted Bush to win but at the same time any hope given to the (I) party in the long run will help divide the (D) party.
The (D) party is going through the same changes that Ronald Reagan went through.
“I didn’t leave the Democratic Party, the Democratic Party left me.”
The (D) party is getting too liberal, too Euro and too radical.
There is a old saying, " Republicans have to act like Republicans to get elected, Democrats have to act like Republicans to get elected." reffer to Tom Daschle on that one.
When Bush tried to reach out to the (D) party, who slapped his hand? Your beloved, Tom Daschle, Ted Kennedy, Dick Gephardt, and Nancy Pelosi. People of America held your party to its merits. These listed were the first to try and divide America after 911.

Johnny just don't understand
Johnny don't care about this world

Johnny wastes his days eatin' ludes

Umm... That wasn't my post buddy... and to both you and TS, would you mind elaborating on why it is good? I still don't understand where you are coming from...Quote:

Especially in a unilateral democracy of IDEPENDENT states UNITED under single a Federated Government? Besides Bush got the popular vote anyhoo. For instance just one city in Ohio has the population of my entire state. What point is it to be here if there is no representation in our democracy? The votes are based on population, that is true and that helps counter balance the opposite. Smaller states haveing more pull than a larger one such as California. Look at the map of the elecoral college. There are many many many more areas won by Bush YET the race was extremely close. It's a brilliant system and I am glad Bush ALSO won the popular vote so I don't have to listen to comments about a system that no one really understands. The selfish viepoint is the dismantle it as archaic.
Kerry earned a lot of respect today from me.
And TS, you don't have to remind me about the smart cookies being the ones lacking common sense, I know firsthand. It sucks. I wish I had more common sense. It's hard to come by... I do better than most smart people though... Oh well...
Gore, I'll move to Germany with you! I've got a lot of German heritage, I would fit right in too. ;) Too bad I'm not 18. Damn the luck.
World War 3.. never thought I'd live to see the day, but it is almost certain to be upon us. :(
I've never been more serious when I say this: Lord, please help us...
Doom & Gloom... gotta love it.
OMG, Bush got elected... Korea, nukes, world war 3, country going to hell, etc, etc, ad nauseum.
Even if Bush is the village idiot who doesn't play nice with others it won't happen. We here the same nonsense from the losing party every 4 years.
Hrmm.. IIRC, going to the moon would never happen? So was flying. Heck, crashing a plane into a pair of buildings was an impossibility that no sec admin had to consider as part of their BCP/DRP. In this day and age, nothing is beyond the impossible. If you told me a year before it happened that it was going to happen I would have thought you were crazy.
Today, nothing should be taken for granted. I know that a lot of what caused the vote to go the way it did is "FUD" but I wonder how long a nation can exist on FUD.
SCO does it and so does Microsoft and they do alright ;)
I spoke with someone who was going to vote for Kerry, and I asked him 3 questions;
1. Who do you think will keep you and your kids safer in a Post 9/11 America?
a> Bush
2. Who do you think will do a much better job defending America?
a> Bush
3. So how come you are voting for Kerry?
a> I don't know, I think we need a change.
I asked the same questions to a few other Kerry voters and they all said almost the same.
Unfortunately a lot of the votes that Kerry got are from people like that....people who did not think it through and people who do not have a real Idea about what they're voting for.
Unfortunately for Bush, a lot of the people who voted for Kerry, really hated Bush...which is really not something you want from your people....but do those people even know why they hate him? I can understand where the mother's who lost their child in the Iraq war are coming from....but a lot of people don't even know why...
oh well, anyways, Bush won...AHHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAH to all those Kerry supporters who funded him and good luck to Hillary Clinton in 4 years ;).
LOL :D...thats actually funny :D. SOOO did the guy just walk up to you and call you a faggot or did you walk up to the guy and say something dumb to provoke him? Seen plenty of Kerry supporters and Bush supporters around here, but never seen any of them just walk up to someone and say something like that....while unprovoked...Quote:

Let's face it: 99% of ALL Americans have no clue about how Bush and Kerry think on economy or on education, for example. If you ask them on terrorism, sure... if you don't know how Bush thinks on terrorism by now...
And if you ask someone who will do a better job on the economy, and they answer Bush, ask them to explain what Bush's plan is... 9 out of 10, you won't get an answer, because they don't know (same for Kerry).
And maybe that's what happened: 99% of people didn't know **** about the candidates, apart from how they stood on terrorism, and "moral values". And that's what made up most people's minds: terrorism, and moral values. Economy? Who cares! Education and healthcare? Who cares! We only care about terrorism, and we know who'll do the best job on that one (and then it's time to ask them if they know what exactly the plan is, and if they know what the alternative was... again, 9 out of 10 won't answer you).
OK I know it wasn't your post but I was using it for an intro and since you asked what was so great about it and made a point to address you. Do you understand that about1/5 of the states out of 50 significantly outnumber ALL the rest? It may even be less than 1/5? The electoral college ensures as much as possible that EQUAL repesentation in the Executive branch is achieved throug Electoral votes. Even though the population of your state is insignificant to make any adjustment in terms of sheer numbers of votes, you as a state and it's people get more power by having electoral votes. So that in a small degree you can influence the election where otherwise you have no voice in D.C.Quote:
Umm... That wasn't my post buddy...
It's the same concept in the House of Representatives versus the Senate. In the legislative branch national balance is achieved by having 2 senators from EVERY state and then balancing that with having House members based on population. And the Judicial branch is balanced by all the above. The Executive nominates judges and Congress approves them.
So without the electoral college 20 or 30 states would never have a voice loud enough to influence a presidential election. We would never have opposition to what is poplular though in the megacities. Of course if you live in one of those states you would tend to say "****" the rest of America but then what is the point of Uniting under a single entity?
//EDIT Negative, not sure about Texas but where I live the Economy. Education, and Healthcare are OK. Unless your homeless.
I think you are too quick to generalize Negative and once again are failing to recognize that America isn't Europe, the vast majority of America is much more conservative than Europe (even our liberals would trend moderate in some places). Unlike your assertion, I for one tried to follow the positions of both candidates and amidst all the mud slinging and insults it was quite difficult.Quote:

On the one hand you had the poor public speaker who harped on repeated simple slogans and statements and soundbites. You may tend to hear more in his personal interviews, but you could forget about it on the stump or at the debates. I don't like alot of the things that Bush has done, I am horrified at the public deficits (unlike the DNC I don't blame the tax cuts, I blame run-away federal spending), I am upset with his decision to go to Iraq, I am upset with the big-brotherish tendencies, and am upset with the administration's closed nature and unwillingness to discuss their own policies.
On the other hand you had the mealy mouthed opportunist in Kerry. While I tended to agree with alot of his complaints and statements, he was all over the map with them, often times directly contradicted what he had stated earlier. A major factor in deciding against Kerry was (to me) his seeming lack of a core, his tendency to change positions and beliefs based on convenience, and a clear tendency to act as an opportunist. So while at times I agreed with what he was saying, I could never feel comfortable that that was actually what he believed. I also had a problem with Kerry in that while he was quite good at pointing out problems and complaints, I rarely heard much about what he was going to do about it, other than to say he had a plan (and when he did, let the government take it over or raise taxes to pay for it, to me, as a conservative, was not what I considered a good one).
I honestly didn't really care for either candidate, but since the choice was tweedle-dumb or tweedle-dee, I chose Mr. Bush for the simple reason that he has made tough decisions and stood by them (which is a major component of leadership and something severely lacking of politicians in the US). I feel that he erred by not admitted obvious mistakes, but I do credit him for not letting his beliefs and goals flap with the prevailing winds as others have in the past. While I agreed with many of Kerry's complaints, I either didn't know what he would do to fix them, didn't believe he would do what he said, or felt that his plan wouldn't help matters.
Hopefully next time around there will be a better choice of candidates, ones that are more moderate and maybe just maybe we can have an election that isn't so divisive.
We can all hope I guess.
Road > if you really wanna put it that way: where I live, terrorism is OK, too... never had a problem with it ;)
Just to add to that...a very significant number of people do not know who the vice president, OR the presidential candidates are(were). :DQuote:

But isn't that what politics is all about? Bullshit? :D
Nebulus: my arguements were based on that "I spoke to a democrat/republican, and what he said was sooooo stupid!"-stuff I've seen here one time too many.
Maybe my "99%" should be "90%"... I won't be too far off.
Ahh gotcha :) Most of the people that I work around and hang out with were in fact paying close attention to the races and could have told you the major positions of both candidates; however, I work with a bunch of highly educated people in a professional IT environment, so I guess that would be somewhat expected :)Quote:

Negative, but I did ask the individual those questions :D....if u want I can get ya a written Notarized statement that the individual we are speaking about, was indeed asked those questions and that those were his answers :D
I don't doubt you did, Cybr1d... just saying that I could go ask some local dumb-ass some questions and use his answers as proof that Texans are stupid... doesn't prove anything, and means even less... but it might be an interesting read :D
You can find dumbasses anywhere Negative...Texas...New York...Frankfurt...Belgium. I'm afraid the US doesn't have the monopoly.Quote:

Always so angry...For someone who took debate classes if I recall correctly, I wonder how you were taught calling the other side "dumbass" was a viable debate tactic. You should know by now then that steeping to such a low only serves to shoot yourself in your own foot?Quote:
Yeah, you all go on and stereotype the democrats. Saying "This is what a democrat would do. blah blah" Notice, how i said "The stereotypical." Hey, dumbass, if i was stereotyping, i wouldnt have said "The stereotypical" I would have just made a generalization, genius.
Nothing was meant in offense, but the point was you still fell back on a stereotype, which is what I'm trying to make my point on: neither side should be doing that, and BOTH sides are guilty of it.
And in light of that, I have to agree with Negative for once. Er0k makes the reference of being in a classroom full of Republicans that couldn't actually explain why they were supporting Bush. Meanwhile, most liberals I talk to can't give a solid reason why they back Kerry (the answer is "Derrrr...I hate Bush!")
Now fortunately, most of the people around here aren't counted among that number, but truth be told, 80% of the population of the world are idiots. :D There are large numbers on BOTH sides that have no clue why they've really voted for who they did. The stupid Republicans are as stupid as the stupid Democrats, I fear.
But again, you have to start looking beyond partisan lines in order to realize that...
On a side note, as the person who's been greened here a bit, I feel responsible to say that we must remember that we are not supposed to be assigning APs in Cosmos. Let's try not to make Neg pull out all his own hair, shall we?
Lol, I have to plead guilty on that one. I really liked something you said and thought cosmos was still heavily tilted in ap assignments to where 100% wouldn't amount but to a couple of points...oops...guess I know better now. I could neg you later if that would make you feel better ;)Quote:

Neither have I. Like Belgium, New York is a long way off. I would take me a week to drive there. How ever they are my brothers in the sense that we are from the same United States.Quote:
Road > if you really wanna put it that way: where I live, terrorism is OK, too... never had a problem with it
Actually I have had close calls with terrorism or more pointedly a self proclaimed Army. I was next to a trash can the IRA detonated. I just happen to be there before it went off on my way to Zebrugge.
I could go on but you all would think I am full of ****. Hmmm perhaps I am biased to get rid of this violence.
Well I can certainly relate to that, it is pretty much the same in the UK. There are three significant mainstream political parties all of whom have a core of voters who will either vote for them or not vote at all. I suspect that these people would vote for a donkey if you put the right coloured rosette on it.............in fact, looking at some of our members of parliament I fear that has already happened :DQuote:

They are what you might call party animals; they know nothing about their party's policies because they don't need to..........they always vote for that party come hell or high water.
The balance of power is held by what we call "floating voters". These are the people who change sides from election to election and might at least be expected to have found out "what is in it for them".
Also amongst the floating voters are those who vote for change for change's sake, irrespective of whether the party in power is doing a good job or not. They have no interest in policies either :(
Unfortunately in politics there is no such thing as fact or reality, just peoples' perceptions and misconceptions.
I see what you are saying now. Thanks for clearing that up... I'm not sure whether or not I completely agree with your reasoning, but at least I see where you are coming from ;):DQuote:

Second, No, it was totally unprovoked. Its great that you haven't seen it happen, remember you live in Boston, Massachusettes, a smart state. I still can't figure out why they let you keep citizenship.. Same goes for me, maybe we could trade states, and after a little bit of hanging out with "real" conservatives, you will calm your guns and shut the **** up about your "Bush" daddy.
And umm.. Neg, show me the bullshit. Lets see some proof that the things i said were wrong. Come on big boy, I know you can find some site that contradicts what i say, lets see it, *******. Im not in the mood for this ****.
Keep on voting for death and destruction, ****tards, you keep on kissing Jesus's ass, may i remind you that you ****ing zealouts don't understand the concept of christianity, you know, the fact that the whole idea was stolen from hundreds of other religions before hand.
I don't support Kerry, I don't support Bush, but Bush is too stupid to be president. Lets take away Bush's morning briefings and basically, the commands he is given on what to do, and see how he turns out. I mean, for christ sake, the man's advisors wont even let him speak on his feet because he is so stupid.
For all you preachers of hellfire and brimstone, keep preaching it, for thats what we will eventually see, whether bush or not, if the christians or the muslims maintain power.
Any christian, and any muslim, are off their rocker. Their might indeed be a god, but it is incredibly illogical to have a god that promotes violence and destruction in his or her name.
Just wait and see what Bush does about North Korea, we are indeed facing world war III, and you idiotic conservative christians don't care. As long as its in the name of your god, right? Who cares?
All of you christian zealouts hate the muslims, right? And don't say no, for if you are a true christian, you are supposed to kill the others if they don't worship your god, well then, stop hiding in fear. Quit believing in a worthless deity because you are afraid of what happens after death. Remember that religion has evolved, just like humans, and every other animal. I predict, that within 1-5 hundred years, christianity will cease to exist, if not sooner.
Mankind cannot survive with politics, and especially liberal or conservative politics in battle, because i can assure you, it leads to war. If america, the superpower of the world, is divided, what is the world now?
All this rhetoric of division is making me sick. You ****tards thing you have it all right saying that it is the end of the democratic party. You think this is a game, you think this is a ****ing game? Are you serious? The reason we have a division of parties is to check one another. Stop the "Conservatives are always right, and everyone must be conservative" ****. The reason that daschle and others have said such things is because its true, you idiots base your entire political base on religion, and the belief in a god is the most powerful thing in the world.
We would be a much happier world if everyone would get off their jesus horse, wake up, and start worshiping each other. Don't try to misconstrue that, I mean, we need to believe that mankind is what is holy, not Jesus or Mohammed or Buddha or the ****ing elephant.
Quit the mankind's inhumanity to man. Quit being conservative or liberal, and quit ****ing around with god.
I am trashed, and annoyed, and I can't believe negative, of all people, would say something like that. Pisses me off. And Cybr1d, i don't want to hear your ****. Their are a select few people at AO competent enough to argue philosophy of politics and the world with me, and you are not one of them. You refuse to accept that you are wrong, and i don't want to hear your ****.
Remember, that AO is a forum, not your rectory or your church. I don't want to hear political ideas based on religion, ever again. And Bush supporters, whether you believe it or not, you are basing it on religion. Every american christian deserves to die for what they have done to the world, if anyone at all.
And about the idiots of the U.S., the bible belt and around of the U.S. has the majority of the dumbasses, i can assure you. Live there before you say a god damn thing. People like you all arguing for Bush are what is going to bring an end to this world before the sun can take care of us. "Protect america at all costs, i don't want to die, let millions of others die first." what kind of philosophy is that? **** you all.
Slow your roll there, you're babbling on like negative in the Arafat thread. I bet your face has changed several shades of red and you're probably spitting on your monitor screen, but you need to take a chill pill bra! You're losing creditability with your erratic, alarmist spout-offs. ;) I love liberals!
I keep hearing "Bush is a idiot" from the uneducated all over the world and here.
BTW, Ivy league grad G.W.Bush is your President.
World war III, the sky is falling! Such Heney Penny's, such Chicken Littles! Can't they see the big picture? A few GPS guided nuclear bunker busters on that reactor, no more nuclear program.
Easy, that includes me. I'm Christian.Quote:

And for the record, no one kills people in God's name. that is a load. God and Christianity are not killers, they are based on LOVE. Not HATE. People kill because well, the extremist groups kill because they forget "Thou Shall Not Kill". So really they are not living in a Holy way if they are killing, even if they try justifying it by saying the people they kill are evil.
The Lord promotes love, not murder. Don't think that just because a bunch of extremists kill and things in His name that He likes it.
I wasn't even being mean this time LOL!.....whats with the name calling young yoda? Boston a Smart state? BWAHAHAHAHA, guess u haven't lived here...they might be intelligent, but their common sense lacks significantly. I never said I was a citizen, which I am not. I'm a legal resident..;). Bush daddy? Woah buddy, simmer down....I don't even like the guy, but seeing the alternative, he gets my vote. So you gonna grow up yet or what? What...did you get your debate trophy shoved up your ass first thing in the morning? Stop being a *****. I really doubt it was unprovoked...you probably acted like your dumbass self, and started an argument with the guy, and he called u a faggot, which you really sounding like one right now.Quote:
First off, *******, you live in boston, massachusettes, a liberal state. Don't even try to compare your state to mine.
You're not even mood for this ****? Even more reason why I should rag on you.Quote:
And umm.. Neg, show me the bullshit. Lets see some proof that the things i said were wrong. Come on big boy, I know you can find some site that contradicts what i say, lets see it, *******. Im not in the mood for this ****.
No, I do not hate muslims...I actually have a lot of muslim friends. I am a true christian catholic and no, I am not supposed to kill others if they don't worship my god. Obviously you don't know jack **** about christianity....or you're just another one of those idiots who read one word out of a whole page which might have the word KILL in it, and go nuts about it. Again...you're immature. Maybe you should lay off Cosmos for a while...Last time I checked, you need to have a certain level of maturity to post here.Quote:
All of you christian zealouts hate the muslims, right? And don't say no, for if you are a true christian, you are supposed to kill the others if they don't worship your god, well then, stop hiding in fear. Quit believing in a worthless deity because you are afraid of what happens after death. Remember that religion has evolved, just like humans, and every other animal. I predict, that within 1-5 hundred years, christianity will cease to exist, if not sooner.
We're not divided...its idiots like you who think we are divided....why don't u start buying canned food and water, and start living in a hole.Quote:
Mankind cannot survive with politics, and especially liberal or conservative politics in battle, because i can assure you, it leads to war. If america, the superpower of the world, is divided, what is the world now?
OOOO But you will, because I simply enjoy it immensely seein you mad...because you really really do sound like a ****ing retard.Quote:
I am trashed, and annoyed, and I can't believe negative, of all people, would say something like that. Pisses me off. And Cybr1d, i don't want to hear your ****.
ROFL you really give yourself wayyy too much credit. OOOO Sorry i'm not as good as a debater as your highness...But ****, i'll still respond to your dimwitted posts because its PHuN!!!! What u gonna do? Hold your breath till u turn blue?Quote:
Their are a select few people at AO competent enough to argue philosophy of politics and the world with me, and you are not one of them. You refuse to accept that you are wrong, and i don't want to hear your ****.
Errr.. Er0k, now really, stop being such a ****ing idiot...I'm sure you will re-read your post and delete most of it because it really sounds foolish.Quote:
Remember, that AO is a forum, not your rectory or your church. I don't want to hear political ideas based on religion, ever again. And Bush supporters, whether you believe it or not, you are basing it on religion. Every american christian deserves to die for what they have done to the world, if anyone at all.
w00t! The end of the world...whats your ****ing problem anyways...I'm going to heaven, I dunno about you though...soo not much to worry about there:D.Quote:
And about the idiots of the U.S., the bible belt and around of the U.S. has the majority of the dumbasses, i can assure you. Live there before you say a god damn thing. People like you all arguing for Bush are what is going to bring an end to this world before the sun can take care of us. "Protect america at all costs, i don't want to die, let millions of others die first." what kind of philosophy is that? **** you all.
Have a nice day Sunshine.
America is divided on who should be president. He's just a man. Many actually agree on politics outside the fringe of the left and right with small variations. However there are those who create an artificial rift in America. Just like they create an artificial outlook on the economy ti gain there advantage over the weak. There is no war, America is united as a whole pick another blog.
BTW when I was in Starbucks this morning the extremely liberal barista I have a tiny crush on, said to my offensive ears.... Democrats on average have higher IQ's then Republicans. I thought WTF does that have anything to do outside of some justification for her stance in society? Who knows. I Still like her her. :) We and my fellow citizens aren't divided by hatred, it's the far left.
Is America divided on health care for instance? The dems say yes, Kerry seemed to make 90 percent of his campaign about his health care plan. Polls, if you believe them, I read placed health care at around 8 percent of potential voters whe made it a top priority.
This thread should have been shut down earlier. Anyway I'm doing it now. Everyone has their own viewpoint on religion and politics and will probably not swayed by the arguements presented here.
