Very true, I can manage a bit of holiday french and Spanish but thats me lot.

RoadClosed - yup I did. I was there in July so it was soooo hot and sticky. Bit unimpressed with the whole Disney thing and lots of Universal Studios was overhyped but Islands of Adventure was fantastic. Got chased by a cop on my last day after visiting Daytona beach, finally got used to the roads and I was belting along at 90 thinking I was back home. He didn't stop us though just gave us a fright.

Bit sad doing it at 28 with no kids but it's one of those trips that has to be done. As for that dumb yank he was a one off everyone else we met in the queues etc was really nice.

That's from Mein Kampf: Chapter 2 (Years of Study and Suffering in Vienna), which God is mentioned and some more "Goddess" etc.... I wrote my freshmen (9thG) quarterfinal paper on it.
Hitler's Youth I found to be interesting as well. If you haven't read Mein Kampf... it's a must. Just to obtain a deeper level of understanding-IMHO.

Now I had the luxury of attending private schooling (which we stayed longer hours/ weekend classes etc...), so I'll try not to judge here, but honestly I believe they've been forsaken in the public realm (for several decades). I think if they had competition between teachers they'd be better off in public schools IMHO. My school had a 99.9% college acceptance rate for over 50 years. Most private schools have that competition, no "teacher Union". You either put up the better credentials or try again next year. Our criminal justice and ideals class had an authentic retired FBI agent teaching the calss. He had his voided credentials on the wall. As a matter a fact, he had Bin laden's FBI wanted poster on the wall, he was teaching us about OBL back in the 90’s! I read in the paper our city just built a new multimillion dollar high school: then I read, " Rooms can hold up to 30 students"............wow, that's way too many if you ask me! (mine was like 10 -14)

To be honest about the US ranking, I think those numbers are fudged-- toward the better end! Has anyone seen that show Street Smarts? Yeah, you know what I mean....#1 one channel for viewing asinine individuals on America's streets.

****edit How many times have you seen a ditzy blond etc.. on TV saying she's an "aspiring children school teacher" or "child psychologist "........... My mom is a psychiatrist, so you know what I have to say about the million of them who wiggled their way in the public school system and who are currently having sex with the 6th graders *sigh*.


6,000 years....lol............... they better take a look at the cretaceous hammer, and the geologic time scale in particular!

Hmm. Different opinion, I loved the place. But I went in the fall and the lines are short. I enjoyed Pleasure Island at night, the great food for some romantic dinners and the rides. My favorite is the one where you go back in time to steal some dinosaurs. The drawback is, there is alot of rain and you risk a hurricane. So did the cop scare you when you saw those flashing lights?

Oh yeah, crapped it big time. We were just pulling back into International Drive and he came right up behind us and when I started to pull over he drove off. We were in a convertable PT Cruiser (like driving a whale) so we must have looked enough like tourists for him to let us off.

I remember that dino ride, not as good as Jurassic park though.

Disney staff were not the happiest bunch (fecking miserable actually). I liked MGM a lot. I think you need kids to appreciate the Magic Kingdom although most of those we saw were screaming brats. I think I sounded harsher than I ment to. I did enjoy Disney. Sea World was good too.

We just loved Islands of Adventure. We had 14 day unlimited passes to most parks but I think we went to IoA 3 or 4 times. We got stuck in a storm there and spent the afternoon in the Oakley shop just chatting to the staff, we just found it a friendlier park.
We got a quiet day at Bush Gardens coz it pissed with rain all morning but it dried up and we didn't have to q all day, the shows there suck though.

I'd never go in high summer again though, it would be better in September or October but we were stuck with the school holidays because of our jobs at the time.
I'm off to Cyprus in 4 weeks which will be nice.
