go for a 'brand' name as the PSU is NOT the place for cheap :p
the akasa AK-P460FG BLV2 gets CustomPC's thumbs up as best budget buy PSU [approx $100 US]
as opposed to the seasonic S12-600 which is their top dog at approx $180 US.

Hey, I am trying to keep the case and the PSU under $70. All I need is a 400 PSU. Those the case really make a difference if I go cheap on it? Like, if I buy an expensive PSU and a cheap case.
hmmm... I would up your case and PSU budget to at least 100 bucks... Your PSU is really more important then your case, but you have to make sure your case has good airflow and it's usually a good idea to get a case that already has fans installed, like a side fan and a fan on top, etc... Also it's said that the cheaper the case usually the more flimsy the metal is...
you want cheap ........ buy cheap, then when it fails, buy the stuff that's being suggested.
THere's NEVER enough money to do it right first time, but there's always money to repair / replace  :p
we're not giving the expensive stuff here, just good quality, at a reasonable price ......
you might need to sit down and rethink your budget ...........
What about this one?
Antec Sonata Quiet PC Case 380W Power Supply
Its selling for $100
I found this one..Cooler Master Centurion CAC-T05-UR, its for $50.00, and I can purchase a really good power supply. Like a 400 watt one. What brand should I buy?
CORSAIR XMS 1GB (2 x 512MB) 184-Pin DDR SDRAM Dual Channel Kit System Memory.
What about this for my memory?
I got 3 things to say...
One, adding onto what foxyloxley said, say you buy a cheap PSU and case, it's likely you could ruin your expensive motherboard, CPU and video card.... among other parts...
Two, power supplies that come with cases are usually not good quality...
Three, there is no need to make 3 posts in a row, there is an edit feature...
***edit***
One more thing, it usually helps if you supply links...
This is the RAM......(http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820145450)
This is the powersupply(http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817103935)
This is the CASE.....(Cooler Master Centurion CAC-T05-UR)...(http://www.custompc.co.uk/custompc/r...-cact05ur.html)
Thanks........
I think those are good IMO, the only thing I'd change is the case simply because I don't like the way it looks :p...
And I really wish you would get a little better of a PSU... but that's your choice...
But from a technical point of view, everything looks decently good...
What case and PSU would you get. I am all I got is $100 for a PSU and Case, any choices?
I don't have a problem with the case, just the way it looks lol... unless you can get another color... pink isn't for me :p...
The PSU, I told you it should be alright... Just don't keep your computer on all day and night unless your using it, and make sure you have plenty fans in your case... you WILL need to have as many fans as you can fit in that case with the components you have...
The thing is my CPU is sometimes is turned on ALL day, sometimes 48 hours, so I prefer to spend some $$ just to be safe.
Well then, You need to take a look at this:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817103937
Look at the third review... that computer sounds an aweful lot like yours... It's completely fried... It's not the same PSU as the one you picked out, but it's proof that this stuff does and will happen...
I'd rather you have something like this:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817103930
Thats, I will purchase the one you just recommended. Now, you dont think I will have a problem with the CASE i previously mentioned?
PS what do you think of this RAM......
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820227039
PPSS........I also saw this one, what do you think ............
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Custra...82E16820145450
I think I found the perfect case.......
http://www.zipzoomfly.com/jsp/Produc...uctCode=140118
its the antec p180
That case got the CustomPC mag [it's THAT mag again :)] 'best of' high-end cases.......
but in UK prices it's £90 approx $150
as a cheaper option they did suggest Gigabyte 3D Aurora, but I like the Antec
Hey, what about the RAM Question?
What about the RAM. On post 56&57 I asked a question on which memory to purchases, and ideas?
I personally like the corsair better... And I like the Antec case as well...
I think your going to be very happy with your new computer :D... It will beat the crap out of mine :p
...And again, please edit your posts instead of making hundreds of posts in a row...
The problem is that the Cooler Master Centurion CAC-T05-UR, is $60 cheaper than the Antec P180.
I already got the antec TruePower II 480. And I am going to purchase the CORSAIR XMS 1GB (2 x 512MB) 184-Pin DDR SDRAM Dual Channel Kit System Memory - Retail.....http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820145450
Is these itmes ok?
Which one would you choose?
These is a list of Corsair RAM that works with my MOBO......
Recommended Modules
Most Popular:
TWINX2048-3200C2 / DDR-400 (XMS-3200C2) / 2-3-3-6
Best Overclocking:
TWINX2048-4000PT / DDR-500 (XMS-4000) / 3-4-4-8

XPERT - Configurable On-Module LED Display:
TWINXP1024-3200XL / DDR-400 (XMS-3200XL) / 2-2-2-5
I saw the TWINX1024-3200C2PT for $99, but its 2x512, and the TWINX2048-3200C2 for $212, but its 2x1gig. Any advice?
ALSO,
What is the difference between CORSAIR
Series XMS
Model TWINX1024-3200C2PT
Type 184-Pin DDR SDRAM
Tech Spec
Capacity 1GB (2 x 512MB)
Speed DDR 400 (PC 3200)
Cas Latency 2
Timing 2-3-3-6
ECC No
Registered/Unbuffered Unbuffered
Heat Spreader Yes

CORSAIR
Series XMS

Type 184-Pin DDR SDRAM
Tech Spec
Capacity 1GB (2 x 512MB)
Speed DDR 400 (PC 3200)

The only I see is the Timing 2-3-3-6 and 2-3-3-8.
The price is difference of $30. I dont know which on to purchase now? They look the same, its just the timming........
The Antec is 60 dollars more because of better engineering, Antec really had air flow in mind while designing that case, IMO...
To answer your question about the difference of the 2 ram modules... You are correct the latency is basically the only difference, maybe voltage to but to top one doesn't say... But the lower the latency, but better/faster your Ram will be... Low latency is always good...
So which one is better?
This one is for $99 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820145450
And the second one is for $130
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820145492
And there is a third for $131
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820145578
I dont want to spend all these money so far and get cheap stuff. Which one do you recommend.

I am just missing the case and the RAM now.....Thanks for all your help.......
Well... which one has the lowest latency/timing??
1. 2-3-3-6
2. 3-3-3-8
3. 2-2-2-5
I guess no. 3 is best? Right?
Jeez louise :
buy one, any one, humans will be unable to determine the difference in them, even the PC will struggle to show which is which........
So buy it and BUILD :)
we're waiting to see just how good the new box IS ..............
[edit]Don't forget to buy a little hub / switch and some patch leads so you can NETWORK
Ok. Will do, my last question......1 gig or 2 gig of ram? I dont need a HUB, because I dont have enought space on my desk for 2 cpus?
1GB is sufficient for your needs :
and bearing in mind that your 'budget' has been well thrashed :)
you might as well 'compromise' on the RAM ......
Like, what do you mean "compromise" on the RAM. Do you mean go cheap, or go for the good stuff? MY wife almost killed me when she found out I spent about $1000 on my Computer..........
AMD 64 4000 $324
XFX 7800GT $300
Asus A8N-E $110
Antec True Power II 480 $57
Antec P180 $100
Still debating RAM
1gig $99
2 gig $212
That all I need..............
compromise as in BUY THE ONE GB NOW :)
compromise as in 1GB is cheaper than 2GB
I have no sympathy:
Mine threatened to divorce me if I bought another one, so I just bought the bits and assembled it in front of her :DQuote:
MY wife almost killed me when she found out I spent about $1000 on my Computer..........
How about 2 x 1 Gb @ $99 which will save $14?...................and buy her a bottle of wine with the difference on the $212?................keep the bottle though...............you may want to hit her with it :D
Just do what I have done, and buy her a cactus for Christmas
I like it........SO you think 2 gig is the way to go then?
I just bought this case for $50. Tell me what you think?
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16811112211
You are going to have to buy something mavro ............
something, ANYTHING
just buy and build :)
I say 1GB is plenty, add to it later ..........
and I thought you HAD bought a case ?????
I had, but I returned it..........What do you think about the other
the case is fine .........cases are all about personal choice anyway .......
but you could end up as a senior here, and only THIS thread to your 'name' :p
I think that you have been given MORE than enough advice now .....
We want to see / hear about the box WHEN IT'S BUILT :)
go on, get it ready BEFORE your birthday ............
thanks for all the advice...........
Guys, thanks for all the advice, I am just waiting for the items to arrive. I will let you know how sweet my new CPU will be.......
