Who said potheads were lazy?

To me, Marijuana is about as safe/dangerous as alcohol. I actually dated a girl who was on the honor roll and top saxaphonist (sp?) in the state...yet smoked as much as twice a day for several years. I also broke up with her because outside of school she did absolutely nothing with herself, and any cognition she had in the classroom was void elsewhere...

I've known quite a few people who smoke occassionaly with no harmful effect and are productive.

For every one of those productive smokers, I've known at least two total dead-beat burn-outs.

Countless people drink alcohol responsibly to no ill effect, yet quite a few die from people under the influence of alcohol. I've only known of less than a handful of alcoholics in my life, and all of them were middle-age and used the bottle to escape their own failures.

I've experienced functioning users from both specturms, and seen it destroy both ends as well. To me, they're one in the same. The main difference is that alcohol tends to be alittle more volitile and obvious in effects, whereas marijuana just makes people......stop.....completely.

As long as marijuana were under the same regulation as alcohol, I wouldn't have a problem with it being legalized.

I can agree with that. I've really never seen someone smoking pot and being a loser though. All my friends smoke pot and they all have jobs and do things, none of them sit around being lazy idiots contributing nothing. As you said it should be treated like alcohol.

In related news:

My uncle was almost killed the other day in the early morning on his way to work. A drunk drover pulled out in front of him and hit black ice. My uncle has a punctured lung and a broken.... Sturnum? And 4 broken ribs. He's laying in the ER while the drunk guy is walking around fine.

My Uncle is doing better, they gave him some Morphine. Don't know where the drunk guy is, he wasn't arrested, or hurt.

If anyone here is seriously that much of a dick head, I can find the story from the news where it points out what happened. My Mom read it online so I can find a link if someone actually thinks I'd make this up.

Morphine is a respiratory _depressant_. It is _never_ to be given in the case of chest wounds or any other wound that may affect the respiratory function of the patient....

Basis analgesic training.... Combat Medic and Specialist First Aid...

You need to make a phone call... and get him out of there.... because the sternum and ribs would preclude a combat medic from administering morphine but a punctured lung precludes a doctor from doing it too... But he did... according to you...

I know Morphine CAN slow breathing, but .... They told us he had a puntured lung and that he was given Dilauded (Hydromorphone Chloride if I recall) and that he did fine with that. Hmm, I'm going to grab some details but form what I understand the Dr who gave it to him knew all this about him.

Ok I just asked. I can't call because his phone has been taken off the hook. They said news paper people kept calling and asking what happened so his phone is off the hook and ther eis a gaurd at the door. The lung was punctured by a broken rib hitting it, and he WAS given Dilauded but right now I have no idea what he's on.

As far as my Mom knows it's still Dilauded.

Damn that irritated me. That's one reason I get so pissed off when I come here and see people who talk **** about drugs users. I try to leave my personal problems out of it, but it's hard to not get pissed and it's somewhat my fault for not explaining but I shouldn't have to you know?

I don't call people who drink or smoke addicts or drug users, so I think I deserve enough respect to not be called the same. I'm not big on drinking, but I do enjoy German beer sometimes.

People here will make 300 threads saying how drunk they are and the stupid things they've done while being drunk. But if you say "I saved a burning baby while I was smoking a joint" they think you should be put in prison.... That's another reason it pisses me off.

That and not one person who bitches about drugs actually does them. And that guy Zombiemann77 who got all those APs for tearing me apart? Well, he once said I was like a Brother to him and how close we were as friends. If he wasn't kidding in that post he turned on me which is stupid because he has known since day 1 that I liked Opiates.

The funny part about these peopel calling me a junkie is that:

A: I've never once done Heroin

B: I don't do ANY illegal drugs.

C: He's done drugs, and so has every other person in this thread. Beer is a drug but no one wants to admit it.

I'd love for someone to try and defend Beer not being just as much of a drug as pot is. Being drunk and being stoned ARE the same thing. The difference is you DRINK beer, and therefore when you've DRANK beer, you've DRUNK it.... Funny how if no one started saying that people would say "stoned" or "high" on beer.

The real funny part is there are members here from the Netherlands. Over there Pot is legal. Think about Beer being illegal. The people in that country would think the rest of us were criminals. Just like me being called a junkie. Here is another thing that pisses me off:

1. Quit bringing it up in the first place. All I did here at first was point out that in particular Cali had a lot of epeople who gave this same **** to their kids. 2. Give me and other people here the SAME respect, and close EVERY thread about beer, alcohol in general, and how drunk you are. If you all quit running your mouths about how drunk you are all day and every weekend, I'll quit talking about other drugs.

This may come as a huge shock to Americans but there are country's in the World who don't think toking up is a huge crime that is going to kill you or turn you into a 3 assed toad.

i agree with you gore , i think there is alot or hipocrasy in the so called war on drugs , i made a free choice to start smoking yet when i started smoking the mid/late 80s (12yrs old)i didnt have the information on nicotine and tobacco i do now ,they would tell us pot is bad and it would lead to other drugs ect but hardly anything about tobacco or the dangers would be downplayed .now sitting here at 30 yrs old trying to quit ,i get mad because i wasnt very well informed , although i made the desicision to smoke it wasnt an informed desiscion

I actually read on their "Pot isn't natural, this is a myth".... You plant a seed, water a plant and pull off the buds after they give off heat.... How is that not natural? That's like saying Cucumbers are a myth too...

It would be nice if they just said

"OK listen. Smoking pot may not turn you into a frog but you could end up doing it to much and smoking anything is going to harm your body. That's probably the most widely used and abused one of them all. Not sure about it being more addictive than Nictotine but it's surely used more. Hell, Coffee, Pop, and even Chocolate contain it heh.

I'm addictive to both I drink as least 3 pots of coffee day and i smoke now almost two packs a day i smoke menthol Newport 100's I was told i have to cut back due to high blood pressure.:(


BTW I do like a cold beer every once in a while i just know my limit :p

However I think that would be best left up to your Dr. You may want to ask him though about a Benzodiazepine... Think that's spelled right...... But anyway, Benzodiazapine tranqs depress the CNS and may bring it down for you. Ask your Dr though.

I do too, and you don't have to ask your doctor. It's called, stop smoking and drinking so much. It's like when people try all of these diet crazes, pills, etc. Ugh! It's called, PUT THE TURKEY DOWN AND GET OFF OF YOUR @$$!!!

yeah i know about heroin all too well i went thru watching my uncle trying to quit it , he ended up going to prison for life (california 3 strikes law) .

That's sad.... If we locked up everyone for doing drugs the music industry would be DAMN boring. Every musician on Earth who did ANYTHING was toking or doing something.

If you watch the Simpsons they are great at showing two sides to political arguements. On one Side, Homer Had short term memory loss, on the other he was mellowed out and not yelling, and he kissed up to the boss and got a promotion.

Of course the episode where Homer is hooked on Morphine has a special place in my heart... And the one where Marge is selling houses and the Dr says "If you ever needs any perscriptions, no questions asked just give me a call".... I never wanted to get into realty more in my whole life lol.
