Meh... On ANewEraIRC, the technical discussions tend to become homosexual/perverted after the first 5 minutes. Course... I may be partially to blame for this.Quote:

[21:01] <skiddlaptop> reference monitor?
[21:01] <skiddlaptop> that's too hardcore
:P
Well, I'm happy to say I'm now residing in #lobby - don't know that I recognise anyone else except thehorse13, but it seems a nice place to hang out so far.

EDIT: Apparently JPNYC removed the most important part of that quote... Yeah... I know it was you... YOU'RE OFF MY CHRISTMAS CARD LIST!!!
:halo:
The quote isn't funny without... Well... Yeah.
There was no swearing at least...
I understand but like I said in the edit, we have no age limit on these forums. While that can be a bit constricting, it's a fact of life that we have to address. :(
:) i was quoted lol...yea unerror is a fun server, but it does always seem to get perverted...ohh well throw a bunch of lonley computer nerds in a chat room and what do you expect :-p
Synful hi, as you know, we caught up with each other in the channel :)
However, I'm starting to see why some people are a bit lukewarm about the IRC channel. The minute I mentioned AO someone (presumably a server op) "killed" me :( It doesn't sound very AntiOnline friendly .... and frankly I cba with all that rather childish kick/ban stuff.
It's very easy to kick someone out of a channel you op or (in the case of a kill) admin, but it's much harder persuading people to hang out there. Normal users have more power than they realise because they can vote with their feet. And I'm afraid I have better things to do than continue rejoining channels when there are so many more of them!
Which Server were you on Moira?
irc.unerror.com #lobby
Well, ya can't say you weren't warned. I told ya that there were some rather hostile folks there when it comes to this site. ;)

That is not truuuueeee :DQuote:

Normally they just kick you and make jokes about gh3yness.
Well... suffice to say ... Poop happens.
If you know who did it (I can probably look through the logs and find out), I'll have a talk with them. It's about time we had another "meeting" (if you could call it that) anyways.Quote:

Yes, a lot of us are (were) from AO, and a lot have some bitter feelings towards it (for one reason or another, hell, I was banned at AO once for no reason), but no IRC oper should act in that way. They all know what kill and all those are measures are for, and someone mentioning AO isn't one of it's uses.
Also; yes, the chat turns gay sometimes (usually Brad, Jack of Synful :-p), but it's a fun place to hang out, and you can actually learn sometimes.
Anyways, I hope this hasn't discouraged you.

WOW...MB i havent talked to you in a while whats been up man?
Heya, not to much, been busy with school and stuff. Other than that, nothing noteworthy has really happened in my life, at least I don't think it has. What about you?Quote:

Same stuff man...Im in college now going for database administration...thats pretty much all that is new lol.Quote:

The channel is fine .... g4yn3ss and pr0n talk I can live with (IRC is not for the faint hearted). Maybe I'm just beyond all this kill/ban evasion stuff. I part own a channel on qnet and in all the time I've run it (at times single handed), I don't think I banned anyone at all! +m is so much more humiliating and in the event of a botnet attack, +r and +i/+k work a lot better.
I still much prefer IRC to MSN/AIM/Yahoo mainly due to the more relaxed atmosphere and mentality of the people you chat to. I've learned so much from IRC and it's instant help - priceless!
We're not a large server, but somehow, we attract BotNet attacks (it might have something to do with being on the mIRC server list), and in most events, g/z-lines work the best ;-), anyways, DefCon protects us well most of the time anyways. I've had a chit-chat with the oper that did it, and they meant no harm, they said they have nothing against AO or you, and it was only meant in a joke way (we have a weird sense of humor), and nothing else.Quote:

Anyway, I'm happy to stick around in the channel :) it seems lively with plenty of chat. Botnets (or the people who think they're clever for running them) are a total pain. Qnet suffers quite a bit and it's so unnecessary because it achieves exactly nothing. I can see their "use" to send spam or harvest confidential details from compromised PCs, but to part/join an irc channel in such rapid succession that nobody else can get a word in ..... pointless.
