Dalek, I'm pretty sure we've had this debate before.
It wasn't the US's war, so most Yankees feel that any and all assistance given was charity. Europe seems to feel that there was an obligation to humanity, and that the hell could have been abbated with earilier action. Both valid points, let's agree to disagree.
However, my main point was in regards to the Swiss.
Although I definately will agree that there was an alterior motive to some extend with the marshall plan. I don't think it was so much as to fight communism as it was to create markets, even if those goals are parrallel.
