Novell is from the beginning build for storage and transaktions of files, with other words a fileserver. During the years have Netware started to loose popularity and in the fight to get back their customers they have started to enhance and develop new product's for Netware.
Today do Novell talk about the name as a brand with many different product's to offer and Netware are only one of the products. Novell do also want to develop more platform independent products like ZEN for desktops etc. They have not really succeded yet and only the future can tell if they will win or loose.
Whats normally associated with Novell are:
- Border Manager (Proxy Firewall)
- ZENworks (Zero Effort Network, management tool)
- Netware (Their OS)
- NDS (Novell Directory Services)
- Novell Client (Client to access a Netware server, usually a *ain in the....)
And maybe something more I can't think of for the moment...
Feel free to correct if Im not correct, Im no CNE, just deals with a crazy admin every day :).
