I might be totally wrong here, but I thought that [glowpurple]w00t[/glowpurple] (doesn't it just deserve to glow purple? ;)) was the word "root" mispronounced. (a la script kiddie) Root, for the non-*nixers among ye, being the user on a nix box with ultimate privelages. (there is kind of a euphoria in logging into the root account, when that little $ changes to a #... the knowledge with a single command you could totally wreck the entire system, if your mind should get carried away or if you make a mistake... It's sort of like the feeling of being able to destroy the world with a single spoken sentence... Weird...)

But it might just be an odd happenstance that "w00t" sounds like "r00t". :)
