Well I have an advantage of age here, last time I recall hearing a statement like "Axis of Evil" it was called "The Red Menance" people like Artists, Writers and such were labeled commie lost a way to have an income, black listed, put in jail. Yes was all done in the name of "National Security" those Reds had cells all over. The US goverment has given it's self the right to invade your home, church and school. They don't know what they are looking for but given the right they will find one right or wrong.

They give themselves the right, is it not us who choose them as our leaders through the election process?
But I guess there is always the Military intelligence community, the CIA and NSA run the government.

Palemoon you have every reason to be concerned. everyday people would report something truly suspicious, without the government asking it.
Now that they have asked, we're going to have every kook out there seeing things that arn't there. this not only is going to make the work of finding the bad guys tougher its going to create an atmosphere of paranoia and mis-trust. the perfect enviromentfor big brother to grow in.

i dont know about u ppl but i dont feel right about the govt. searching thru all my mail and packages, if they havent been doing so already. i know i'm not doing anything wrong, i just feel it is an attack on my freedom more than a protection angainst terrorism.

Good Opinions
I have enjoyed this discussion. As far as I can see we all have our own opinions, and in many ways we have all used our freedom to express ourselves. Anytime our Civil Liberties are diminished it is natural to feel "Challenged", I am of the same opinion as most of you. Just interesting to play the Devils Advocate, and hear different views on the subject. Just remember, In places like North Korea, and several others regions in the World Internet Conections are forbidden to the general public. I think we should all be glad that we at least have the right to disagree withour leaders.
Unless of course you happen to be a Branch Dividian.

..........Uh, let's see, maybe 3 or 4 years ago (time flies when you take naps) the FDIC (or maybe the IRS?) gets a report on any bank transfer over ten-grand. FDIC also gets a report on any "suspicious" transactions. So, give your daughter 9-grand, 9-grand,9-grand then 8-grand. She'll be surprised four times instead of just once. :D

Yeah that was to stop drug transactions and car dealerships have to report if you pay for a new car in cash. Now they just hold the money and drive it to the next person. Point being it did not solve any problem to the drug dealers but for people doing nothing wrong they are checked out real close. Must have happened during one of my naps :) Naps are good Old Man huh? Keep it under 10k nd your OK maybe.
