is hacking child porn sites wrong?

Hacking/Cracking/ whatever a child pornsite is a waste of time. Even if you do take root access on the box, and you do rm -rf * then what? Any pr0n site (child or otherwise) has backups someplace. Whoo you took it down. So he goes, grabs a new domain, and right back at it again. So all you did was cost the guy $100 to put up a new domain basically.

Using the legal system may take 2 or 3 weeks, maybe even a month. But it would be a lot better to leave the site for a month and have the person arrested for 20 years then it would be to hack the site and have it back 2 days later.

I believe that the criminal penalties for hacking a web site are found in 18 USC § 1030. That portion of the United States Code does not contain an exception for "hacking sites that should be hacked", such as child porn sites. Hacking a child porn web site is a bad idea.

I can't answer whether or not hacking a child porn site in "wrong". It is illegal & may well get you jail time

I would actually start with getting root and do rm -rf * but i wouldn´t leave it at that! I would find out who owned the site, probably through some social engineering. and then I would make life really miserable for this person!

One of the main problems with shutting down this kind of sites it will be great!!!, But the problem reside when the feds looks into theirs logs and see your connection or any connection trying to spuff this site, they will try to pin you down with it as well.

dont forget the feds do not have any friends, the more conviction they get the more promotions they have so dont waste you precious time when you are doing more harm to yourself than good to others.

of course we would like to shut this kind of site down. but by doing this the feds will assumed you are part of it. dont forget the feds only see ip activity and packets over flow.

Well reangade, and a lot of others, might be right! It all ends up in the fact that these people (the owners of child porn sites) needs to be hurt! They need to be hurt a lot! :D

True. You could be facing jail time for performing a public service.
If arrested, it would probably cost you mucho $$ to pay an attorney - and you probably would be convicted.

I'll leave this to everyone's imaginations and determine for yourselves, it's different for everyone I guess. Is it wrong to hack a child porn site? Legally: yes; Morally, can't see what's wrong with it myself. But that's just my opinion; I could be wrong ;)

I think its really up to the Gov/fbi to really take down these criminals/perverts..If you find a site that has child porn on it then you have to report it to the authorities...
There are some groups out there that do this investigation of people like this..one is EHAP(ethical hackers against paedophile) im pretty sure there still around..Also in a way your helping bring the word HACKER back to being the good guys..the then the press will see "hackers helping out and doing good" even though we have been doing that all along the press still doesn't no the diffrence between Blackhat and Whitehat... Cracker and Hacker..
Messing with a child pornography site isnt going to do anything drastic. Just like soulman said there hust going to find another domain and plop there crap back on the floor...
so do the best and the smartest thing find em' report em' and eventually they be in prision

Eventhough it would be fun and even more fun hunt them down and shut them up..yourself!!!
