Q3,
Counterstrike,
Neverwinter Nights &
Battlefield 1942.
They HAVE to be on there for dead certs, cos they're pure mutli-player stuff. And thats what you're primarily aiming at.
Okay, first of all, I'm a little upset that Mechwarrior 4, C&C Red Alert 2 and Tribes 2 weren't on the list. I may not be able to recover, but here're my top choices from your list:
- Battlefield 1942 -- this looks like it will have a strong following
- Counter-strike -- have you seen how many servers are still out there?
- C&C Renegade -- I have no clue about this one, but it seems like a nice thing to say
- Starcraft -- RTS fans would drag you out into the street and shoot you, if you didn't have this
- Warcraft II/III - again RTS fans, yadda, yadda, yadda
- AVP2 -- Munching heads, glowing blades of death, what's not to like?
- SOF2 -- the shooter for the realist crowd. Big market.
- NWNights -- I hear it's popular.
- EverQuest -- see above.
- Diablo II -- solid gaming action with mulitplayer angles.
That would be a solid arsenal to begin with. Make sure you offer all the latest and greatest accessories to complement such a bitchin' gaming selection!
Headsets? (w/mic, or without...whatever)
Joysticks?
Mice of quality? (boomslang, IR, etc)
And above all...HAVE COMFY CHAIRS!
1) CS
2) Medal of Honor...
3) Unreal Tour.
4) Quake 3
5) Warcraft III
6) StarCraft
7) AOE III
8) EverQuest
9) Neverwinter
10) StarWars Jedi Knight
Those are all good games and it's a tough choice to pick just 10. Also, my suggestions are:
Rainbow Six: Rogue Spear
Rainbow Six: Covert Ops
Mafia
MechWarrior4
No one lives forever 2: A Spy in h.a.r.m.'s way
and Age of Mythology
Good luck with the LAN gameing center. Maybe I'll visit sometime. :)
Ya I have the headsets and microphones idea in the bag. I'm setting up a system where you can communicate with your teamates and talk with them realtime. I have also thought about figuring out a voice over ip system for use during major tournaments with other LANS. I'm not sure on what kind of mice I am going to use, but I am going to study em, and maybe have a selection for people to use, i.e. rollerball vs, optical, some different joysticks, etc... Chairs will be big pimpin, since I want people to sit as long as possible. heh
I say the GOLDEN Oldie 1:Total Annihilation with TAUIP
2:Warcraft 3
3:Starcraft with various mots
Well, Thank you for all your replies, it really helped me in my decisions. Well here is my starting list:
- Half-Life: Counter-Strike
- Quake 3 Arena, World etc..
- Unreal Tournament 2003
- Warcraft III
- Diablo II
- Starcraft
- NeverWinter Nights
- Battlefield 1942
- Everquest
- Half-Life: Day of Deafeat
This is going to be the package I start out with. The other games will get added eventually also. Again thanks for all your replies. You can't even pay for this kind of market drafting. :D
CS,MOH,UNREAL,QUAKE,AOE,SOF,WARCRAFT,DIABLO,STARWARS,EMPIRE EARTH...........I THINK THESE ARE A MUST FOR ANY GAMING CENTER...:)
TRY ADDING GTA-3,SIMCITY 3000.....LIST GOES ON
xmaddness,
Just a little advices (if you are still in this after 3 months):
1) Take care with kids playing in your LAN. They usually don't know what to do and bother other gamers connecting and disconnecting form the game in progress.
2) Make exclusively games weekly competitions.
3) From the very first day, never but never erase the gamers scores, try to save them in your database. They could complain for that, believe me!!! :D A friend of mine, made a weekly competition and forgot to save the scores and so they a lost a lot of people that complained to him, because they played a whole week for nothing.
4) Announce weekly/monthly winners and write their names somewhere, this keeps people inside the competition always playing and playing to maintain their names at the top of the list.
5) Keep a good security in the place (i don't mean LAN security but real police or security guys). Sometimes people you don't want enter the place and players are so concentrated in the games that they forget about their own security so sometimes they could be robbed if nobody's watching.
You couldn't have chosen a better list so well done!!!
By the way, maybe you should add the Midtown Madness series for the racing fans (they go well with your nick, hehe!!!). :D
Good luck!!!
DKRR
Where are all the racing and flying games?? Warbirds, MS (Combat) Flight Simulator, ... I can't actually come up with any good names right now because I don't play too much anything but I'm sure some people do play those... And where's Civilization 3: Play the World? Maybe 3 RTSs, 3 shoot'em'ups, 2 racing and 2 flying games would be nice?
