I don't quite see what's wrong with him being interested in hacking.I'd like one person in here to tell me that they have any kind of useful knowledge about security, yet know absolutely nothing about hacking. It's not possible.Hacking and security are hand in hand.A mechanic doesn't just put a car together does he?You have to know both sides of the coin.As a matter of fact, security is pretty much useless if you don't know how it's attacked.I think some of you just throw around negs without thinking first(ie. you wait around for some newbie to come in and make a comment that you know every other uptight person is going to jump all over.)It's really kinda counter productive if you ask me.How many knowledgeable people have been immediately shunned by the AO community just for making a comment they didn't know was wrong.I think some of you need to give newbies a chance before jumping all over them and getting them banned with APs.

If by hacking we mean in general just seaking computer knowledge then the answer is obvious: the is no best operating system to learn. While some are better than others, what OS a person uses is a matter of preference.
Learn how the computer works, not how to work the computer.
Learn how things are done, and why: by that you will become a much better computer user in return.
