I have started up 5 computers to donate their cycles for Folding@home. I am waiting for the Solaris version and will put that on when it comes out. I am looking around the office for other computers that can work on it.
Nice !
So far do I have three computers running but it's the thought which counts its not a competition, atleast not for me :)
Together we are strong
Would all people in the world "donate" their free cycles would it probably be the worlds biggest super computer.
I dont know when they will release any other clients, but the faq is last updated October 2, 2002.Quote:

Why no IRIX/Solaris/etc version?
We've been deluged by requests for other versions. We promise, we'll get them up and posted soon as we can, most likely in a couple of weeks. Right now, we're looking for good programmers to help with the ports to SGI, Solaris, etc. In general, the Cosm libraries should be easy to port and thus (with some help), we should be able to whip out these versions.
Now if they'd just hurry up and get the nifty screensaver thingie ported to linux......
I notice my linux box hasn't processed **** yet..
This concerns me..
I also need to check two other boxes because I haven't seen any results from them.
It disturbs me.
heh. i'm getting mucho results from my one box, but i noticed i'm not on the AO Team page.
I have the number right, because i can get to the team page from the link in the log. i dont know. maybe i'll show up there eventually.
If you are talking about Folding@home then..Quote:

If you search for yourself as user.. What does the stats tell then ? If you dont show up then you dont have submitted any results yet.. And if you show up as user then the stat page will tell what team you belong to (if any).

I've been doing SETI since it was setup, and since I don't use my computer most of the time I have a lot of bandwith to volunteer. An AO network would probably be more useful than SETI, too.
I too have joined. So far I have 3 of my computers on it. A P4 1.9ghz, a dua p2 400mhz and a p1 200mhz. I have 4 more here that I'm going to put it on too.
The P4 is picking up results like crazy! That is some pretty cool ****. :)
I have **** loads of boxes at work and in storage. If I can get it approved I will load it on any box I have at work. We have all brand new p4 1.7ghz boxes there and they are only using them for the internet and word processing/email etc. Waste of PC if you ask me.
I've e mailed all my family and relatives and they will probably join too.
I'll see what else I can come up with.
One question... if I put them all on with the same username, will they all work on the same piece, or will each one get its own?
They work independent from each other. I have now three computers running with the same username, two of them are now working on project 182 and one of them on project 137. But they are working on different assignments in the projects.Quote:

I hope this was what you wanted to know :).
