I agree the xbox is better than the PS2 because PS2 takes a long time to load and it really messes up a dvd i also think you should pick an xbox because the online games are good and have great graphics

It depends what you want, if you want a system in which you can play more single-player games get ps2, since ps2 has really no good multiplayer games and ps2's internet thing does not compare with Xbox live. So if you want a system with better multiplayer and online gaming get Xbox, also its better for home entertainment purposes, plus it can be used as a computer (thats if you load linux on it).

I have a PS2, and I have noticed, it freezes up some. Now, it has only happened to my Ghost Recon game, I don't know what is going on. But, anywho, nothing is perfect, but, I have no clue how the X-Box is. I heard it has it's own specialy made G-Force video card, and a hard drive...

Grand Theft Auto 3, and Vice city
Nuff said :-)
--------- Edit --------
I've thought of another reason to go for the PS2
PS1 games... a good way to waste a few hours, and can be picked up 2nd hand for a few quid / bucks / Euros. IMHO sometimes great games are not just about the graphics, it's about the game itself, I've played Halo, and it's great, but some of my favorite games are actually avaliable for the PS1, and older PC's.
I toyed with the idea of getting an xbox, but decided to spend the 200ukp on a new GFX card, and a few other goodies, and I prefer gaming on my PC.
Also has anyone tried playing Halo, when the missus want's to watch Eastenders?? too painful in my book.
While i'm here.
to the guy with the stuttering game. try making sure the disk is clean, and unscratched.

My Analysis (As of Jan. 11)
XBox is a very powerful system (technical wise) however the developers are barely pushing their games to use the true power of XBox. Very little XBox games have been million sellers (only two come into mine, maybe even one) and most of their "true hit" games are available on the other two respected consoles as well. With the Xbox Next (that's the name of the XBox 2) coming in 2005, Microsoft really need's to work on getting their developers to pump the true power of Xbox into their games. They are slowly catching up to Nintendo, trying to get the second-place spot, which is a good thing. The rookie in the industry (Microsoft) is giving the veteran (Nintendo) a healthy run for it's money, and that's damn sure good news. However, with so few major titles and NO first party support, can the Xbox last until 2005..?
The GameCube is probably the most family-oriented gaming console on the market. I mean, the name Nintendo sell's itself alone, but it's family-friendly title's make for something that people of all ages can enjoy. The GameCube's children game library is extensive (Animal Crossing, Pikmin, Mario Party, etc) and so is the Teen-Adult library (Resident Evil/Resident Evil 0, Eternal Darkness, Metroid Prime, etc). This give's gamers what the gaming industry is all about: games. Is it about DVD playback? No. CD Burning? No. The only thing that Nintendo's GC is lacking would have to be Online Gaming. They have the tinyiest plan for Online Gaming. However, if you look at it, this could be a bold move. What if people aren't ready to go online with their systems? Then the only company that didn't blow the money on Online Gaming would be Nintendo. Anyways, I can go on forever about this, so let's move on, shall we? ;)
The Playstation 2 is this year's #1 console on the market, hand's down. With sales toppling both of their competitors, they have little to worry about. Many say that the PS2 got lucky, coming out about a year and a half before it's competition, but remember that the PS2 was entered into the last console war (the one with DC and N64). The fact that it dominated in that war, and went on to win this one, is amazing. A problem with the PS2 is the total lack of market targetting. The PS2 solely focus'es on the Teen/Adult market. Having games like GTA: Vice City where it's nothing but violence, gangs, and all sort's of illegal BS is truly NOT meant for kids. So you know, GTA VC was their top hit this year, and was a possible candidate for Game Of The Year. The PS2 will continue to sell load's, but Sony is already (and has been) developing and planning the PS3. The chip that PS3 will use is called "cell" and is being made mostly by IBM. The PS3 is also slated for a 2005-2006 release.
There you have it folks, my little report. Oh, everything I said has factual proof and I'll be happy to obtain it for you. I know alot of you are surprised after reading my PS2 report, that GTA: Vice City should have been GOTY. However, and reports will show that the Game of the Year for 2002 goes to Nintendo GameCube's Metroid Prime. Again, report's will prove that as well. That's my little analysis, enjoy. Oh, remember, that it's not really about the fancy looking hardware or tech specs, it's (used to be atleast) about the games and the fun factor and enjoyment of them. If you like a game and have fun with it, that's all that matters. :)

if you are into modding and changing things then i would say XboX.
this is probably the xbox's strongest feature. already there are modding communities out there with tutorials and programs for modding the box up the wazoo.
seemingly, DirectX is more tried, tested and developed than what the programmers have to use on the ps and game cube, so the games that will be coming out should be very good indeed.
edit: the XboX can easily be upgraded too, of course, you can just purchase a larger harddrive and stick it in :). micros~1 intend on taking over the online gaming market for consoles in the future with the xbox. since it is made with existing pc hardware, it may be easier to implement internet gaming with it, and perhaps even local xboxLAN's for gaming. </speculation>

I agree with Spyder32. Gamecube is in my opinion the best choise if you are into pure gaming.
It doesn´t have all the extras that XBOX has but the quality of the games are in general higher for the Gamecube exclusive titles.
By the way, I´m a Nintendo fan so don´t trust me...

ive had a few sources who complained about the "lens" getting messed inside the xbox, with the comstant switching of dvd/game/dvd etc.
i also played my mates ps2 and the fan was very noisy but the games were good
i remember only a few years ago i was thinking dreamcast/playstation or n64 heheh im glad ive got a beefy pc to play cs, rtcw and bf1942 thats all the gaming i need :D
