Hacker is an old term, it has been used for programmers on the periphery for the last 40+ years that I know of. The redefiniton of hacker is somewhat bothersom. Like the cheshire cat " a word means what I want it to mean." Hackers are still just programmers. Programmers are, were and will be the true computer literates.
The only question is whether or not Programmers will use their talents usefully or as silly ass shouts for attention.

hey i didnt say i was a hacker, or a cracker. i am a 14 year old programmer.the term hacker doesnt offend me. i use my abilitys to program and boost security. if someone calls me a hacker i tell them the truth. im not. i hav many friends that are (or so they say) but being called a hacker doesnt offend me. but being called one then being prosecuted is total bull ****.
