facing a problem

Yes, it do ask me for the pcname\guest login and password.

I do insert the password but it says me that system error 5 has occured. Access is denied.


I have opened the guest login on that system and tried it but of no use.

YOu can't use the guest login for the Admin Shares, C$, D$ etc. You MUST enter the username as Administrator and password as whatever the admin pw is.

OK, first you need the Administrator password. If it's your box and you don't know what it is, then it's probably blank. So try username: administrator, password: blank.

There is written somewhere in another post on AO that you cannot access non shared resources on another pc using netbios or net use, specially if your OS is XP.

So, is that true?

BTW that administrator and blank thing did not work.

Okay....I only skimmed the replys, but I didn't see this anywhere. If it's already mentioned, I apologize.

When you write to the HOST or LMHOST file, you have to remove the .sam extension when you save it, or it won't work.
