I have been reading for a while, but only registered recently.
APs, whether positive or negative, *should be* indicative of the releavance, not all negs are unjust.
If a newbie negs a Senior member unjustly, I would hope said members would show the maturity that got them the status they have and not just dump neg points back. On the other hand, I would expect the Senior members to PM said abuser and inform them of the error of their ways.
Like others, I hope this will end the abuse, tag-team negging, etc that AO is trying to end.

i personally like the idea of the poster showing ... because now i can see who gave me positive or negative APs and from now on i dont think there will be thta many negs without a reason...people will think through why hey wan to give negs and write a good reason ....

But the heavy handedness of higher level users negging a lower level user unjustly is still there. I will use myself as an example. I signed up for the Authenex A-KEY about six weeks ago. There is a thread where people where talking about how long it took to get their key and I had been following that thread from the beginning. I got my key yesterday so I searched for the thread and stated I had got the key after six weeks and I would try it out that night. Next thing I know, I got negged hardcore. Here is what is listed on my antipoints.
don't bring up old threads. Especially with worthless shity remarks

Now , I am not trying to complain. I am just showing how much damage a high level user can do to a newbie.
1. He was not involved in the discussion in any way. He never posted.
2. Who is he to tell me not to bring up old threads? If they are relevent, I see no problem and there is nothing in th FAQ about not bringing up old threads.
3. If my post was short, which I believe is better than a long winded post at times, it was becuase I had not tried the key out yet. Once I understand the device, and no one else has posted about it's use and functions, I will post about my findings.
Now, I want to state again that I am not trying to complain about getting negged. It happens. The new function in the AP system allowed me to see who negged me and I did try to contact the user to understand where he was going with this. But, if a newbie negged a high end user and that user wanted to hurt the newbie he could do so.
Just my two cents.

come on AO member let's not discuss here who got negges before without a reason or a for a shity reason... the new feature is here to stop that ...

Let's at LEAST give this a try before shooting it down or complaining. Going into something with a negative attitude doesn't help the situation either. Try and be positive and go with it for a couple of weeks. If any major abuse happens, it will be handled, I'm sure of that. What do we have to lose? A few points for the larger sacrifrice of stopping the AP abuse? Mad because you can't hide behind childish comments anymore? I mean, what's the problem here?
If the system fails and it's more trouble than it's worth, it will be removed, no doubt.
It's at least worth the try. Unless you can think of something better?

Well now is a nice time to come clean. I admit it. Ever since I joined AO peaple have been gang neging me... for like a year I was stuck in the gray and red zones. Some of them peaple left behind a few names and without checking if it was really them or not... over time I began to neg back (RUTHLESSLY). But now I know who is really who & I feel very bad about what I've done. And as for the peaple who made bad posts and probably deserved the neg... I also was very rude with the AP messages which were sent to them so im sorry for that too.

Yea, Iv gotten a couple PMs today saying they got a couple from me that i dont even remember giving, so before i go off on the Mr hypocrit of the year award, I checked out my AP cener which i should do more often, theres like 5 negs in there that i dont remember giving, and the other day when i had people over and let them use my computer, i went to work thinking it would be ok, and on my Linux box theres a browser that has my account saved where you dont need to log in....well, Im guesising they thought it would be funny to give out some negs for the hell of it. Soooo if you have a neg from me that you thought was unfair, copy an paste the message into a PM to me so i can "play detective" and boost you back up...and if when im done if those few people that thought it was cute to log in as me are still able to type with the fingers they have left they will be sending an apology too. this has me a bit mad, my points hit hard so its not a funny prank to play on someone. But it will be fixed, just send a PM with the copy and paste so i know how many bones to break.... i mean, how many people to boost back up.
