wanting to open IE in C++ program

Umm.. White_Eskimo, I'm not sure if you know how to use older versions of DOS (not sure about new versions..) but whenever there is a file or folder name longer than 6 letters it needs to be cut down to the first six letters, and the rest replaced with '~1'... so it would be

thanks...i actually just switched over from mac os 9 to XP within the past 4 months. I appriciate the help

EDIT: Your suggestion works great if the program i want to run is has a space after the 6 characters, but i ran into another problem. Lets say i am trying to run an application called Army Ops. When i type in:

system("start C:\\Progra~1\\ArmyOp~1\\Army Ops.exe");

i run into the same problem i had before (cannot find the appilation "C:\Progra~1\ArmyOp~1\Army")

i cannot do:

system("start C:\\Progra~1\\ArmyOp~1\\Army~1.exe");

So my problem is that my compiler thinks that the space means its the end of the string and sticks in a NULL character right after the word "Army", therefore terminating the rest of the string. i was wondering if anyone knew how to fix this problem...

no...i tried that and it didnt work because when it gets to the last word "Army Operation.exe" it sees the space and inserts a NULL character there and ends the string. I dont want to rename my file to "ArmyOperation" because thats not always an option.

First, your code isn't working because there isn't an armyops.exe in that folder.. you need to go to the System folder inside the Army Operations folder... not just the directory...

Also .. after talking to some people on IRC I found out that since we are using DOS (FAT), spaces and capitialization aren't real... thus we never include them in code.. so your line would look like something like so depending it is the same path...

lol how do you know whats in my folders? you are right actually, my armyoperation.exe is inside of the System folder, but how did you know where it was on my computer?

I used to play America's Army a lot, but when I cleaned off my hard drive, I only put Vice City and Battlefield 1942 back on.. so when I came to this problem, it was a good chance to re-install the game.. and that's where it installs by default so I assumed it was there.. :)

why dont you use some win32 api calls remove alot of that extra ****, msdn.microsoft.com will have the answer its a really easy function :) and you can tell all your friends you know win32 api and have a larger penis or something...
