I was afraid you were going to ask this. First what userid do you use to logon to your win2k box. It is likely already the administrator. You can check by going to your control panel and clicking on "Users & Passwords". Now the 98 box....as I recall (and it's been awhile ;) ), when it boots up you should be presented with a dialog box asking for a userid and a password. Now if you haven't set anything up, you likely just hit enter and it continues to boot. If you want to create a userid & password just enter the userid & password in the dialog box, the system, I believe, will then say this user does not exist, do you want to create it. Answer yes. I believe in 98 all users have admin rights (but somebody with more experience with 98 may be able to fill you in about that).
Now, again I haven't done this in a long time so follow my advise with caution. :p

Thank you so much for helping me out. the problem wasnt really anything that you guys told me to try. on my 98 computer the file and print sharing wasnt enabled. I feel stupid for not checking that but i thought that it was. anyways i finally got it working. Thanks again!
