That's a little bit of an exagguration - you can get Gentoo installed in a few hours if you want. Obviously if you compile everything from source and start from the basically partitioning/bootstrapping it is going to take longer though. If you want Linux installed in under an hour you probably wouldn't choose Gentoo, just as I wouldn't choose SUSE if I wanted to compile everything from source.Quote:

As for those supposed advocacy bordering on insanity, I have not really encountered that on any of the sites I visit. In fact, I've found Debian users are the worse when it comes to distro wars or installations (apparently you are an idiot and a troll if you dare to criticise apt-get and the install process).
