aim direct connect and fileshare dont work with router

I have a question. Why would you want any kind of IM on when you are gaming?

I mean, is a contact coming on line more important than the game you are playing. If so, then why are you even playing the game.

I'm sorry but I am afraid I don't understand this at all. I am not flaming you about it, or cutting you down in any way. I just don't understand.

If I am waiting for someone to come online, I don't get into anything that might be hard to drop or leave in the middle of. And if you are playing in a multimember game, the other players would be depending on you....wouldn't they?

I was pondering this one as well. When I go play StarCraft, I always put up my away message on AIM because if someone tries to IM me when I'm playing, I don't wish to be disturbed nor do I want them bringing the SC window down. So I put my away on until I'm done. If you want to be alerted if someone is on, then wait to play the game.

I'm playing the game to kill time until a contact I feel like IMing comes online. On MSN I'm set to appear offline until this time. The reason why I do this? There are only a select few people I would rather talk with than game (only when I'm in a gaming mood), until the time when one of them appears I'm generally shown as Away on AIM and offline on MSN. There are only one or two contacts that meet this criteria so it's not like I'm gaming for for two minutes and then quitting. I may go several hours before they sign on. It is more conveinient to just know when they sign on (I have it set to play a unique sound) than to minimize the game everyt time I hear the contact signing on sound. Hope this helps
