Rating a person's post is also a **** of ****.... look into Tech Humor or into Cosmos, half the AP bars are glowing green in those.. did those people make any contribution that proved they knew what they were talking about? Not all...

And Deb didn't abuse the AP system at all, the issue was checked by JP and she was cleared of whatever you little mind might think.

I know she makes intelligent posts....but the AP system has been abused in the past AFAIK. I speak to her on IRC every once in a while and I can see she's a smart woman.

I never said it gave an accurate judgment, but it gives you an Idea that gee, maybe the person knows wtf he's talkign about? I doubt you disagree with that. That was what I was telling hexadecimal....

We do use the AP system to rate a user's posts....

You'll also notice that Deb hardly posts in Security related threads...why? Because she doesn't know much in that field. You'll see that I don't post much in crypt or steg threads because my knowledge is limited in that field. In the threads that I post in usually, I have a pretty good Idea of what i'm talking about and you can spend the extra minute and read through my post....

The AP system serves its purpose IMHO.

Surely we all know this now, it's been beaten to death, has it not? I'm a good example, I'm only moderate in technical skill, IMO, and I have quite a few greens.

However, stick around long enough and you know who's who. Most people with 11 greens are on top of things, more than not anyway. The APs are a good general guide but shouldn't be taken too seriously as they do obviously have flaws.

Cosmos: Most of the people who actually bother to post in Cosmos are pretty intelligent people and many of them are knowledgable in the computer field. I know APs are not supposed to be distributed in Cosmos, but people still do....maybe on posts that they agree with.

Tech humor....who are the members who have been greened the most? You'll notice that its senior members, on which after 11 dots, the AP assignemtn means jack ****.

Those abusing APs in Cosmos are a minority too. Indeed, all of us would probably fair well to put an end to that...When I get APs in Cosmos I quickly remind the assigner to only give me APs I've earned. I myself negged once in Cosmos for an abusive post, and that was it. More or less, however, what Cyb's saying stands more or less true, given the occasional exception.

i dont speak of noobs as inferor beings....im still one for the most part....what im saying is that some ppl honor senior members for their AP's alone......yea im just gonna stop posting when it comes to Ap's.....no matter what i post i just get negs....even if im supporting the dern system!.....*Sigh*

Are you saying that the post we are refering to right now, was intelligent? I didn't think it was. You didn't deserve the negs, and I did not neg you because I hate you or anything, just the oposite, I wanted to see what you were going to say about them, and then see if I can help you out.

BTW, the age difference greatly affects what you might consider an Intelligent post and what we hold as an intelligent post..."we" meaning the much older members. Sometimes its better to listen more and speak less ;).
