Yea but what everybody fails to realize without bands like the ramones and the misfits (fiend for life) then all theese other bands might have never became anything. The older punk bands opened the door for ALOT of what we hear today. Even Metallica, who suck now but were freakin huge, say that their biggest influence was the misfits. Punk isnt dead. It never will be as long as there are people around who it still influences. Im not a freaky looking druggie like gore but i can still say punk has affected my life. Johhny aint dead joey aint dead. they just arent here anymore. But as long as they are remembered for thier contribution they will allways live.

Yeah Zombie, I think anyone who likes music knows where the real deal is and was. :) Hell even U2 loved the Ramones and took some of their political and social views from them. They aren't punk but their messages are told in another medium. Heck I would rank U2 into their own style category. According to Bono on the Elevation DVD, Joey's last song he ever heard was "In a little while" and was something he (bono) will hold dear forever. Because of that some hear it as a gosbel semi religious tune, a far cry from its original intention.
