Many state lottery's fund schools and other things along with Taxes. Tax allocation is very interesting. In order for Casinos, horse tracks, dog tracks, lotteries etc. to operate they have to agree on a predetermined amount of proceeds to park systems before being granted a very controlled license. Not always but most of the time, some predate the requirement.Quote:
I could have sworn it was the taxes and the tax payers money that did that.
EDIT Here is a link to a division in my home state lottery .
You might like to check out the video on this site. They actually showed it on national TV news over here, so I think the technology is a cause for suspicion outside of the US as well.

:D
As I am preparing for tomorrow (election day, whew) I wanted to show you all outside the United States what a typical ballot looks like. Well one of the manual ones. This thing will then get scanned and recorded so you can't entirely remove the computer from a process so big. It takes a while to load because the server is busy and it's huge. This is only page 1!!!
Notice the first box, you colorin the circle for the presidential candidate. Not hard? But watch how many lawsuits we'll have. And this is also why I am scared since there was such a large PUSH to get people to register to vote for a president. Look at this thing! Those other option are JUST AS important!
Sample State Ballot.
The ballots in Idaho are pretty much the punch card ones. They seem easy enough to use, they just have a billion steps to go through to finish voting for every position. Put the card in, take the stylus, and punch away. I got to use one during a mock election.
The problem with regular paper ballots I've heard is that in a few places they force you to vote a straight ticket. They have two seperate ballots, and they just hand one of them to you. You are required to fill out the ballot they give you, even if it doesn't have any of the canidates you're looking for...or some weird thing like that.
Well, I don't get to vote this year... 4 more years....
