I would have to say that it is a pretty bad misstatement to assume that all people who hack their xboxes are script kiddies. Most of the people that I know who have modified their xbox would have no clue what the hell a script kiddie is. Let alone be within 10 years of the average age of a skiddie.. I know quit a few people who have modified them for the sole purpose of having a multimedia pc connected to their TV and stereo equipment. The software is free, and the mod chips are cheap and incredibly easy to install.
Why pay HP a ton of a money for a multimedia version of XP with surround sound when you can get an xbox that will do the same exact thing for 180$ when you include the cost of the chip??? I do have to agree that it is kind of stupid to attach a modded xbox to xbox live as it was only a matter of time until they will start checking for weird directory structures, additional disks, larger capacity disks, etc.. I'm sure they are already checking most of that now. Although, with the new USB harddrives, it will probably be easy to load the entire evox image onto a chip(larger memory banks would be needed), and then have the chip enable the external disk drive. This way when you turn the mod chip off, the rest of the xbox is completely stock, and the external harddrive is not recognized at all.

First off i also have to disagree with the skiddie comment, the use for modded xbox's ive heard about most is a nice cheap webserver :D, That aside aint all these Halo 2 fans with modded boxes missing the fact that xbox live isnt the only network? lets face it does being in america mean you have to access the net from AOL? nope it aint the only isp, in the same way xbox live aint the only network xbox can be part of :D

I might have been a little off... Sorry... I was just speaking from people in my area... They definitly fall into the category of noobs/skiddies/etc. I didn't mean to offend anyone. I will say that I have no respect what so ever for someone who pays someone else to put their mod chip in. That ruins half the fun of the god damn thing. Also, if you use it for cheating OTHER PEOPLE, and not just the game, then you are a retarded **** and I have no respect for you. I hate cheaters in games. Piss me off... Some of us actually work for our scores...
sorry about the mini rant, and sorry about the offending of some people. Not EVERYONE who mods their box is a noob, just those who do it for certain purposes and most of the people in my area who use em.

none taken here grunt.....cheating in games is pointless...it takes the fun and throws it into oncomming trafic....i have to congradulate thoes who made the modchips...did the acutal work behind writeing the new bios and making the correct parts with stuff from radioshack and mouser.......but the people that take their work and use it with no regards to its orgional purpose are just downright low
