That was one of the nominations for Politically Incorrect Person of the Year. Yes.
But, like I said, when you look at the press outside the US, you get a very different world view. We are not liked, and generally for very good reason.

!mation, he should have fired Ducros. It was inappropriate. It may have been what many felt but it was inappropriate. While Powell may have been there at his "beck and call", as I said, there are some things that should be done by a leader. And as I said before, it wasn't a "thank you for helping us", it was a "thank you for offering condolences".
rapier, if you actually check, it's interesting. Many other nations like Americans. It's just Bush they don't like. There seems to be a striking difference between the two and from what I've read, that difference is being made (i.e., Americans != Bush)
Ms Mittens you hit the nail on the head but the problem is that the americain people have been convinced ,by the powers that be, that they are disliked when they leave the safety of their borders.
Strange I must be looking in all the wrong bookshops as i can find that many conspiracy books on the shelves here! :confused:Quote:
911 Conspiracy books are they best sellers in Canada like they are in France?
Kind of places one in a defensive stance eh? All though it's not the powers that be, it's the media and people like the general population of Canada that gets it's jollies on negative American commentary. It's hip. ;) Case and point the article and topic of this thread. "Thanks for the thanks but it's too late." How brash?Quote:

BTW the president is visiting Canada, watch how openly they accept him - even after stating a desire to have some "official" thanks within a specified time period.
No American wouldn't look at Halifax and not have admiration for their efforts. The same happened in England and many many national friends who endured and sacrificed to help stranded Americans. We know, trust us. :) I wasn't traveling but if I was to get stuck anywhere Nova Scotia would have been my favorite. And I ask a question, which is worse, the person who forgets to say "thank you" or the person who communicates that fact?
Business investment grew over 3 percent again this month. What are they buying? Information Technology.Quote:
dis-like bush because they fear mostly an economical side of things
My older borther got stuck in Canada at the time and he had nothing but praise for the recepetion they got from the people there.
Don't get me wrong, Canada is very nice. Lovely country been all over it. In fact I have been thinking on planning a trip to St. Johns by taking a train across Canada. But even Ms. Mittens would agree that it's hip to talk down about Americans. :)
Hey Maracu, if U2 tours again and plays at Slane Castle... it's my desire to be there. :D Hopefully.... last time I didn't get tickets.
Canada has 222s over the counter, I ****ING LOVE CANADA!
Lol, Now I know why you live in Michigan.
*teehee* You've heard about "Talking to American's" eh? If you don't know what that is, check out this site which has some exerpts about poking a bit of fun.. :D (And I have met American's who demanded to know where the snow was in July in Ottawa during 100+ degree heatwave  )Quote:

Lady, seriously did you read the whole transcript I've posted twice?
Quote:
PRIME MINISTER CHRETIEN:And we had the occasion to receive 45,000 Americans on the Canadian soil who had to be diverted to Canada. And we had a great demonstration of support when 100,000 Canadians appeared on the hill to offer support to our neighbor and friends and family, the Americans.
THE PRESIDENT: Thank you.
I'm not a mind reader and I'm sure you're not one either. I extrapolated Bush expressing recognition of the support of the Canadians who helped 45,000 stranded Americans on the Canadian soil.Quote:
THE PRESIDENT:There should be no doubt in anybody's mind about how honored we are to have the support of the Canadians, and how strong the Canadian Prime Minister has been. And not only his condolences, but his offer of support for the American people.
But that just might be your mind-set; a closed loop!
